0-Size reserve roster option?
I am fairly sure this is not possible in 14, but will it be possible in 15?
I want to run a league with only the active rosters, no minors and no reserve roster. ATM the reserve roster requires a minimum of 15, maybe there is a technical reason for that. Is what I want possible to implememnt in 15? or 14? Thanks all for input. |

I'd like this option as well. For instance, an indy league team doesn't carry a bunch of extras. Maybe a couple (much less than 15), but if a guy goes down they probably just have to find a free agent to sign.

Some of my leagues have 200 teams. It would take forever and a day to check the rosters on a daily basis and add players when others get hurt.
Just control every team and delete reserve players and freeze the rosters and then you would have -0- reserves on your team. Last edited by Orioles1966; 04-04-2014 at 06:14 PM. |

There is the option to control every team(or however many ) and have -0- reserve players, should someone like it that way. That is already possible in the game so there is no need to fix it. I like having certain leagues with reserves and some leagues with minors but no leagues with ghost players. Last edited by Orioles1966; 04-04-2014 at 07:49 PM. |

I'd like to see this too, seems like it'd be easy to lower the number from 15 to anything between 0 and 14 but again I'm not the programmer |

But thats irrelevant to the fact that you say you arent going to use this option and its not going to affect you so why are you speaking against it?? He has a reserve roster with 0 size in his game, you have one with 15+. Seriously am I missing something??

I beleive i asked the question: is this possible? will it become possible?
Some people seem to take that to mean: I demand that this be made possible, nay mandatory. Now! I would say, respectfully, if this is not an option you would like, please ignore the thread. If it sounds good to you, post to show interest. Thanks to everyone for the feedback. |

I would imagine there has to be some amount of Reserve roster plays for AI reasons, but it would be nice to be able to set it as low as 2 or 3.

I never understood why the reserve roster size couldnt be user selected from 0 to whatever.

As I say, my guess is that there are AI related reasons why it can't be zero, but I think you could realistically drop it to 3 (so most teams would have a Pitcher, a Catcher and a position player).

This makes the most sense. I could see the game going nuts trying to figure itself out if a player gets injured and there's no one to take his place on the roster.

I don't think that would be a problem as the game seems ok with early historical leagues where rosters are usually smaller than the required 25.
Maybe that's because there are no free agents, though. If there were, maybe the game would go a little crazy cutting players and filling the spot from the FA pool if it had the option. Doing that every day of the season until it ran out of money. Who knows? |

Or maybe a reserve player of 1 or 0 with a ghost player. Like if the club was forced to put the bat boy or fan in right field to finish the game.

I would love to see this option as well.
I am not sure why the AI would have a problem with it unless you have a roster of 9 players. |

Here's another issue, as I would love 0 Reserve roster, being a 1901 historical replay guy
If you don't have enough Free Agents, and a player goes down...the game would crash, would it not? |

Going along with what you just said, I think another problem would be the fact that as things stand now, free agents don't simply sign a contract on the day it's offered. They will receive the offer and then think about it. This could also lead to crashes.

It wouldn't lead to a crash, but it would lead to the team having only 8 players on their roster, thus stopping the sim.

I guess the thing is, it causes more trouble than its worth
Online leagues would be a pain with the situation Mr. Watts and Mr. Burke stated above Although David, if using Reserve roster rules with the Reserve Clause, FA usually sign right away depending on team record/market size/history and their personality (if enabled) |
