#42 Not Retired for MLB Expansion Teams
(If this thread is in the wrong section, let me know.)
Something puzzling I found today...the number 42, retired throughout MLB, can be given to any player on an MLB expansion team. Now, I can see why this would happen; not many people that I know of tend to create expansion teams in MLB by themselves, and I wouldn't think it's hard-coded to give every new expansion team the same retired number when the franchise just started, but I'm still a bit surprised that it can happen. I will probably just retire the number myself, and that'll work for now, but I hope this gets fixed in later versions of the game. Last edited by dishnet34; 12-02-2014 at 08:58 PM. |

Just retire it yourself...is it really that big of a deal?

Are you suggesting it should be unavailable by default in the game? I certainly hope not.

I'm surprised nobody has brought up this future solution - have league wide retired numbers be a feature.

Not the same at all. When MLB retired 42 in honor of Jackie Robinson, it allowed all current players wearing 42 to continue if they chose to, hence Mariano Rivera wearing 42 for the rest of his career.
The OP is specifically talking about expansion teams, which are all instances of 42 being newly given to players. |

Isn't frustration a little hyperbolic.
