A Depressing Case

So I'm doing a historical simulation from 1871-2011 that will hopefully be continued in 2011. I stopped in 1913 for a bit, though, to check on some things. Out of curiosity I checked the Retired Players section to see who might have had their career cut short. Who was the youngest player on the Retired Players list?

...Casey Stengel. At the age of twenty-two, he suffered a concussion. It ended his career. Worse is that he had four headlines in the news; the two before his injury were a Player of the Week and Rookie of the Month award.

Well, at least he'll get to manage a little earlier.

Worse is, pretty much the same exact thing happened to Walter Johnson. At least he got two years before he was done. I'm guessing I'll just turn Stengel into a coach early, or maybe just unretire him altogether.

...And now it's Babe Ruth, too. God, what did I do that caused all this?

I had much the same with Dan Brouthers, retired on his way to 3000 hits, but cut short.

Grover Alexander has become one I always check. The AI seems to absolutely HATE him.

The best I've ever seen him was with 57 career wins. The other 4 times consist of: 5 career wins, 3 career appearances (no record). And 2 times NEVER making it to the majors.

the worst for me is Ossie Schrekengost?!

He hates boston. ALL MY TIMES HE RETIRES WITHOUT MAJORS (except once where he never got into a game, but was on the bench!)

Also, Grover did more than cy young, and cy young had 350 wins!
