Preview of Padres series; Pujols injury notice

The Cardinals have dropped five straight as they head west to face the San Diego Padres, who sit atop of the NL West.
* Albert Pujols is expected to miss up to three weeks with a strained hamstring and will be placed on the disabled list. As will, Reggie Sanders who will probably miss a week or two with a strained elbow.
Being called up from AAA Chandler will be outfielders Floyd Shere and Greg Wallingford.

Player of the game: Padres starting pitcher Greg Casburn allowed two runs on three hits over 5.2 innings. He struck out seven and walked three. (computer).
Noteworthy: Todd Walker hit a three-run homer off Chris Carpenter in the seventh inning to snap a 3-3 tie.
In the sixth inning, Adrian Gonzalez had a two-run triple to tie it at 2.
St. Louis has dropped six straight, after a six-game win streak.

Note: Andre Ethier hit a pinch-hit three-run home run off Marco Estrada to tie the game at 8. L.A. won it in the ninth when Hanley Ramirez led off with a single off Cardinals reliever Julian Tavarez, who left the game with an undisclosed injury. Jason Isringhausen walked Yasiel Puig, moving Ramirez to second. He scored on a two-out single from Matt Kemp.

Home-and-home with Royals up next for Cardinals.

The Cardinals will begin interleague play with four games against the Kansas City Royals, beginning with a pair of games at Kauffman Stadium in K.C.
(OOTP really needs to install a do you really want to do this option when it comes to deleting a bundle of e-mails. I got 14 in my box at the same time and when cleaning it out, I accidently deleted two I wanted to keep -- Royals preview and player evaluations -- before I could read/post them.).
