P430: Not That Anybody Is Paying Attention, But...

In the P430 AC, despite the Huntley Red Raiders players rebelling against interference from their manager, the team clinched the #1 overall playoff slot with room to spare. Individually, Rube Waddell won the pitching Triple Crown (29-3, 1.44 ERA, 240 K, plus 0.95 WHIP and 8.1 WAR), and RF TOTY Christian Yelich led the league in OPS (1.037) and WAR (7.5).

The Red Raiders will face the winner of the Portland Trash Pandas/Boston Ancients Wild Card clash, while the other AC Division Series will be a battle of the titans, as the 8-time PL champion Spokane RipTide host the 4-time PL champion NYC Isotopes.

It's the P430 NC where things got interesting. With a season-ending 13-game winning streak, the Wilderness Roadkill, with only a Diamond medallion to this point, stunningly snatched the #1 seed out of the disgusting jaws of the Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches. The Roadkill enter the playoffs with an original 100 Pedro/Walsh/Brecheen/Clemens rotation and a lineup led in WAR by SS Cal Ripken Jr, DH 100 Ty Cobb, and RF 99 Stan Musial. The Cockroaches are left to host the Wild Card game against the Durham Bulls, who came up 1 game short against the NC Central champion Seattle Pilots, who will host the 84-78 NC East champion Charlotte Warblers.

Should be an interesting playoff day--good luck to all who are still paying attention to PT 2.0, and even those who aren't!

The San Bernardino 66ers finished the season with a dramatic 10 game winning streak, but it was too little, too late. The Tigers get to face 15-time champion B Team, in the do or die Wild Card. I'd like to say we won the season series against them 6 games to none, but that would just set us up for a loss. (The truth is we only won 5 times). Right-hander Ed Walsh (17-9, 3.41) gets the ball for the crucial game. GM Bailey wants to save Clayton Kershaw (24-4, 2.08) for the DS and besides, B Team crushes lefties.

Edit: They crush righties, too. Mr. Walsh didn't last 1 inning.

zags went 133-29, running the same roster as last season. p480 has two other multiple medallioned teams (flagstaff 49ers and orlando calrissians), but both are in the american league. zags are the 1-seed and should be solid favorites to represent the national league in the WS, but they face stiff competition from a solid field including a 112-50 lancaster oilers team featuring yelich, ted williams, trout, and stan the man.

zags' yelich (9.1 WAR) is a shoo-in for mvp and the cy young will go to either waddell or kershaw (and it would be either one's 2nd in the last 5 seasons).

however, there were a couple of interesting statistical anomalies this season:
-- mays (platoons with griffey, and a defensive sub) had 54 hits on the season-- 20 of them homeruns. (edited: now 55/21 -- 1 game into playoffs)
-- frank dipino (mr/specialist) gave up exactly 1 ER this season in 42.2 IP (.21 era / 2024 era+)-- and somehow isn't on a hot streak as the playoffs start.
-- this is, far and away, the best season the zags have ever had PP-wise. as playoffs begin, the team's racked up 57,640(!). the biggest earner is 99 newhouser, who had a complete game 2h/1w shutout with 18ks (throwing fire 8k, great game 5k) and an immaculate inning in another game. while he's been the least consistent and had the highest era of the starters in both of the last two seasons, he's been an amazing earner (24,765 in 8 seasons [all perfect level]).

The Frogs ended up stumbling into the playoffs like a bunch of hobos staggering out of a bar one at a time (per Tommy DeVito). Going 5-5 in their final 10 games, and giving the #1 seed away to Jetsam City Flotsam in the process. Not how we like to close things out...

...although, in hindsight, perhaps the #2 seed is where it's at. Our opponent in the DS is the 91-win Brooklyn Mets (a Brooklyn Dodgers/Mets mashup). But, the Wild Card winner was the 100-win/6-time PL champ New Image Blaze that finished 15 games behind the Frogs in the NC West. Seeing that the Frogs are up 2-1 in their DS and the New Image Blaze have taken a 2-1 lead on Jetsam City, I think it's safe to say our road to the Sub-League Series is easier this way.

We're hoping that we can knock Brooklyn out in 4, because we'll have to face SE Gooden again if it goes the distance.

After an epic regular season battle with the NY Flyers, Guardians managed to take the division crown in the final week of the season. The Divisional rounds resulted in a sweep that featured Rube Waddell's no hitter in Game 1. It is Rube's 2nd career no hitter, already having spun a perfect game.

Flyers are locked in a 2-2 tie with the tough Montreal Expos squad, game 5 will be Tim Keefe vs Johan Santana at Montreal. Over in the NL, the Waffletown Syrups were sadly unable to win the WC game, but had a solid season nonetheless.

Sounds like a pretty sticky situation.

Haha, he does a team spotlight on the Dynasty forum so giving him a shoutout. I ended up copying his idea of buying JoeDiMaggio and doing the Snuffy S collection as it fit my needs/budget really well. Joe made the AS game his first season while smacking 25 HR, and Snuffy has settled in nicely as a righty platoon IF.

Welp, that didn't happen as hoped. Frog bullpen has now blown a save in 3 out of the 4 DS games (SE Hoffman gonna get himself rage-quicksold at this rate). Luckily, the offense snatched one back. So, now we're headed to G5 against a plucky underdog while playing some turrible baseball. Oh goodie.

Flyers lose game 5 on the road 1-0. Was really hoping to play him again. We also had home field, which now goes to Montreal. Time to pack our bags and cold weather gear, off to Canada for game 1.

Guardians call up rookie speedster to the 25 man playoff roster, could he impact? Team sources indicate he will be primarily used as a pinch runner in high leverage situations but will certainly be available.

Frogs blow a save for the 4th time in 5 Division Series games...but advance anyway. Here's to scoring more runs than your enemies.

P430: Playoff Baseball <clap clap clapclapclap>

Quick P430 AC update:

- Huntley swept the Ancients.
- Spokane surprisingly swept the Isotopes, and it wasn't close (6-1, 8-2, 7-1).
- Huntley vs Spokane game 1 went 16 innings, with Spokane's Charlie Gehringer finally driving in the winning run off Dennis Eckersley. Game 2 looked to be another Spokane win until Huntley's Ozzie Smith singled in Jackie Robinson off Spokane's Mariano Rivera and Huntley's Hank Aaron drove in Yogi Berra with a sacrifice fly off Spokane's Don Drysdale to tie the game in the 9th, and then with 2 outs in the 10th, Robinson walked and Berra doubled him home for the walk-off winner. What will happen in Spokane? The answer will soon be revealed...

Quicker P430 NC update:

- The Wilderness Roadkill won Division Series game 1 to extend their winning streak to 14 games. Then the Hissing Cockroaches ate the Roadkill 3 times in a row to take the series. (Do cockroaches eat roadkill? Does anyone really want to research that?)
- The Seattle Pilots quickly quieted the Warblers 3-1.
- I wouldn't want any Hissing Cockroaches on any craft I was flying, and the Pilots didn't either, losing game 1 2-1. But the Pilots rebounded for a 5-2 game 2 win to even the series.

P430: That's Tough...and That's Even Tougher

With 2 heartbreaking losses in Spokane, Huntley's dream of title no. 9 is just about extinguished...

Update: Triple Crown winner Rube Waddell throws 6 shutout innings and the bullpen doesn't collapse, so Huntley escapes from Spokane with a 3-0 win and a chance for redemption in Huntley...

Heading into the world series against dkgo's 3 grand team. He's got me out spent by 3-1 but I'm gonna give it my best shot.

Should be fun dkgo.

Game on!

Well, that's just stupid and embarrassing.

Good luck to Spokane in the P430 Perfect League Series!

zags are in the WS against the flagstaff 49ers. the 49ers come in sporting a 119-43 record (2nd best in the al). their starters are (all peak) young/johnson/maddux/walsh/kbrown. they have 5 elite sps in their 6-man bullpen, run a roger connor/cap anson platoon at 1b, and put a premium on infield defense... so that's the kind of series it's going to be.

this has inspired me to drop newhouser from the roster (he was about to slip into "who's not" territory with a 7+ era in 2 playoff appearances), and get ozzie in on an accelerated schedule. plan was to replace ripken next week, but ozzie's defense, obp, and speed are likely to be useful this series. also, looking at the opponent, i don't really feel any qualms about pulling out all the stops. so here goes

edit: also, sorry to see the red raiders are out-- but at this point i am definitely rooting for a spokane over seattle series in p430. NW represent! (note: i am neither actually from nor currently residing in the northwest)

P444: Last week the Doubledays won their division by one game on the last day of the season. This season we already clinched the NC Central by 45+ games. Being in a weak division has given the Doubledays the current #1 seed at 107-27, leading by 7 games. But top regular season record does not equal championships or even a playoff series win. Here is a list of the Perfect title prior champions by division:
AC East:
Fresno Losers -11
Denver Doggos-9
AC Central:
Wonder Wharf Wonder Dogs-7
AC West:
NONE
NC East:
Aliquippa Quips-6
Cincinnati Reds-2
Mocosloco Green Sox-2
NC Central:
Doubledays -7
NC West:
London Ocelots-2
Redondo beach Rockets-2

Fresno and Denver have the toughest division draw as one will have to be a wildcard. Wonder Wharf should have an easy time getting to the AC Championship series, but the winner of the Fresno - Denver series should represent the AC. Doubledays should be the #1 seed but the Quips and Ocelots poise a challenge for the NC crown.

P426: The Woodpeckers are leading the NC Central by 11 ½ games. Here is a list of the Perfect title prior champions by division:
AC East:
Great Lake Squirrels-5
AC Central:
Seoul Paw Sox-10
Morder Mayhem-3
AC West:
NONE
NC East:
NONE
NC Central:
WoodPeckers-1
NC West:
Missouri Legends-2

There are very few Perfect titles in the 429. Seoul Paw Sox are highly highly highly favored to win their 11th Perfect title.

P488: The Owlz are 24 games up in the NC East. Another division crown and playoff series is expected as the Owlz seek their first Perfect title. Here is a list of the Perfect title prior champions by division:
AC East:
South Side Crimson-2
AC Central:
LA Kings-1
AC West:
Diamond Street Strays-1
NC East:
NONE
NC Central:
Parish Who Dats-9
Toledo Mud Hens-2
NC West:
SDCA Los Padres-1
Chicago White Sox-2

Parish Who Dats are the biggest challenge in the 488 as they seek Perfect title #10.
My biggest winning season for all 3 teams in the regular season equaled disaster in the playoffs.

Doubledays won 128 games but lost to the Ocelots in the NC Championship series 4-2. The streak of World Series championships ends at 3.

Woodpeckers were the #2 seed but were swept in 3 games. the Paw Sox became champs.

Owlz were also #2 and were also surprisingly swept in 3 games. The Who dats took another title.

Nice to see some of you still around. My chronic pain issues got so bad, I couldn't even type for a while so I've done very little with PT for the past month.

Anyhow, I just wanted to congratulate Westheim's Portland Raccoons who finally won their 1st ever perfect championship!! We almost had an all Raccoons series, but lost to the B Team in the conference championship, but Westheim's Raccoons beat them in 6.
