Text To Speech

The game sound + text to speech option works great for pbp. The only problem is the speech is too slow. The speech does not begin until after the ball is in play. Is there a settting to start the speech (which describes the pitch and in play well) before the ball is in play so they are synced?

The best I could do was instant results for pbp and I changed the app file to voice speed 3. A bit too fast as sometimes HR and such are spoiled but I like the faster pace and I'm willing to sacrifice for the speed.

I use short pbp and 1ms delay and it's working very well for me.

If you're on windows it's in the settings menu. Game not open now but I think under misc tab? If not there just look in each though I know it's not on the first page.

Doesn't work on Mac, not sure about linux.

I tried it yesterday and it's a pretty cool feature, but I prefer to have it off. Technology has definitely improved over the years. I remember there was a handheld game in the late 1980's called "Talking Baseball" and it had two teams, the Eagles and the Buffaloes, and the announcer's voice sounded very robotic.

I enjoy the sounds of the organ music, the crowd, etc. in OOTP and don't really need TTS. If it works for you, great. I just prefer not to have it on.

One of my favorite additions since the last time I purchased OOTP. Now if only I could find more voices. Hopefully some day the technology will allow recreation of some of my favorite announcers from the past.

I'd love it if the text to speech also allowed for pre-recorded color voices.

I changed the app speed to 13 and notice no difference.. it defaults to 10, what setting are you talking about?

Perhaps it has no effect. I changed many things at the same time trying to speed it up.

Could someone guide me as to what setting ps they use in the Windows 10 TTS software to read the text during a game in OOTP 19? Thanks

Yes I didn't notice any speed increase.

I have used this feature and it is fun to work with. It's not like the old BBW for Windows but it works. To me it has a robotic voice but beyond that it brings you into the game. Plus it has several settings.

No, thank you! It was worth a shot.. to me it just doesn't match up with the play.. I hope they expand on this in the future though. The play needs to pause and synch with the speech and it lags even on "instant" pbp.

It's neat though and I can't wait to see what improvements might be made to it one day. (then I could eliminate the pbp window all together)

I totally agree with you. I also agree they have to do something with challenge mode. It is far to easy to win games and reach the playoffs. I have not yet done it in 19 but 18 I had to quit playing it and go back to house rules so I could enjoy my league without winning each and every year by cheating the AI. Have you tried it this year? Is it still to easy to build a winner? They have done a wonderful job with the rest of the game. Every year it keeps getting better and better. 😀.......Z
