I suppose so. Just wait until after expanding to realign.

I think you'll need to give more information than that.

Do you have Java installed? Follow the instructions here. If you don't have Java installed, or have a Java version older than Java 6, you'll need to install a newer version of Java.

I'm having the exact same problem - I click on the icon to open the program, and nothing happens. I have Java 8.

EDIT: I've gotten the program to function. I'm just having a really, really hard time getting a realistic schedule - the program keeps expanding divisional games to 120 and subleague games to 110!

There are some (unnecessary, but not yet removed) constraints on the number of games vs. the number of teams. For each sort of game, there are a number of opponent pools, each with a certain size. (For divisional games, these are the number of divisions, and the size of the division minus one.)

To make the scheduler's problem a little more tractable, I decided that each team should play the same number of games of each type, and spread them out evenly per opponent. (This solves issues where, for instance, there are five teams in a division, and each team must play three teams six times and two teams seven times—one team will end up short.)

The easiest way to require that this be true is to require that, for instance, the number of divisional games be evenly divisible by two or more numbers:
1) the preferred series length
2+) the number of distinct opponents each team must play in its divisional pool.

The first constraint is the unnecessary one, and it's at fault here. If you have divisions of size 5 and size 6, for instance, each team plays 4 and 5 opponents*, for a least common multiple of 20. If you have three-game series, though, the LCM jumps to 60, and the scheduler will only be able to generate schedules with divisional games equal to a multiple of 60. Try tweaking the preferred series lengths to a multiple of 2, and you should get some finer-grainedness.

* Thinking about this, I may have it written wrong, taking into account pool sizes instead of pool sizes minus one—IIRC, I have divisions of size 4 and 5, and ran into the same LCM-inflation issue.

Relaxing that constraint turned out to be pretty easy, and doesn't really affect the scheduler too much, so I did that and released v1.4. Note also that v1.4 allows underscores in config file league definitions, for ease of readability. (They don't need to be in any reasonable format, either; the parser strips them out altogether.)

Open a command prompt and type 'java'. It should print a help message. If it doesn't, Java isn't correctly installed.

Aha, cool. You'll always want to run the file called 'run', which is a little script that starts the schedule generator (basically, it opens a new command prompt and uses Java to run the schedule generator inside the prompt).

Edit the file called 'settings.ini' to change the settings.

It's probably failing to correctly parse your settings file. Please make sure you haven't made any errors in formatting. If it still doesn't work, attach or PM your settings file, and I'll have a look at it.
