How does Custom Awards work?

If you were to make a custom award, how would the game know what it's for? I want to make a comeback player of the year award

The AI doesn't automatically choose the winner(s) for your custom award. You have to select them yourself.

Yes, at the end of the season you get to submit the votes for every category, including the custom ones... the vote for the custom ones are indeed the effective winner.

There is no news message for custom award winners. You'll see in my thread that since i was the one who chose the player i just add their profile page.

As the traditional MVP slot is for hitters only (if you pick a pitcher it lists their batting stats in the post about winning it), I'll use that slot for the best true hitter, calling it the Ted Williams or Hank Aaron award, for guys like Miguel Cabrera, the custom award I use for the best overall player or true MVP, for example Mike Trout, but also if I have a dominating pitcher who is the best player (best WAR usually) then I'll let them have the MVP and that way there will be a best hitter award as well.

You can vote for awards? I thought you could only vote for allstar and hall of fame

It's not really a vote, but rather a selection. You can select who wins each award.

Can you use an "Executive of the Year' or something like that? I didn't see a way to select a player for this.

Also, suddenly I can no longer select my award winners, even though the game has yet to announce the MVP and Cy Young. Is there a way to still add this or?
