Ok, I cheated. I need friendly support!
Ok, so I am GM for the Royals. I pulled a couple of great trades that nabbed me Patrick Corbin, Aaron Sanchez and a couple of awesome young relievers that's better than the entire Royals bullpen! I had no money for free agents. None. Zip. Nada.
But...... I saw one of the international free agents from Japan that's a RF with five stars and scouts tout as another Juan Soto. Almost. I cheated and turned on the Commissioner mode and made a humongous offer. Should I be ashamed? Or say the h*ll with it and use what the game gives me? Was that being naughty before Santa comes?! |

You give other people gifts this time of year, right?
Why not give yourself one too! (That's how I'd justify this right about now.) In all seriousness I don't believe there is such a thing as cheating when you are playing this game strictly against the AI and not in Challenge Mode. It's a game and all about having fun, whatever that looks like for you. Now don't get me wrong, there are things I would personally consider cheating- for me- but I don't get to decide for anyone else what is fair game or not. And things I don't consider cheating, when I do them, others might consider completely out of bounds for them. I say don't worry about it and have fun. Plus, with those IFA's you never can tell- might be a superstar or might end up a bust (for me that generally happens because they are more injury prone than could have been predicted). So it's not a sure thing- just an opportunity you wouldn't have had without manipulating the situation a bit. And that's what this game is great for, playing out those what ifs?

I would never do that myself.
I strongly believe in the OOTP Motto - "It's your game, play it your way". You decide if it's right or wrong |

It's your game, play it how you want. If it's more fun for you to have this player on your team - have him on your team. Justify it however you want -It's just a computer baseball game -I convinced my owner to up the budget -I'm sacrificing one draft pick for the next 5 years Whatever I usually have a few different games going. One, totally for fun. Anything goes Another, I'm usually experimenting with something And a third, that I really sink myself into and make it as realistic (and difficult) as possible. There's no wrong way to play I often make myself some "house rules" and stick to those instead of what's strictly in the game. T |

I'm tired of the Royals always being down the totem pole on money. Yes, they won two World Series without massive names. But I would still like to see them sign a Gerritt Cole or Anthony Rendon. This game allows that.
So sue me! |

So you went to the owner, made your case and they agreed to let you go after this player. Seems legit to me. Honestly I wish that was part of the game.
Whatever makes it more fun for you. Its all about being immersed in your universe and sometimes this is what it takes. I've done it before. Very seldom but sometimes a player comes along and they just fit perfectly with what you are building.

It's only cheating if it's against a fellow human player (the nonsense that goes on in Perfect Team comes to mind). Else, it's just "artistic license."
But I'm with Bluenoser. I'd be feeling guilty about artificially enhancing my chances of winning, thereby diluting my enjoyment of winning. So no harm done, but it's not for everyone.
