How to get game to work on small screen
Hi,
I recently bought a Dell laptop with a small screen (13.3 inches) When I tried to download the game, it said something about the screen being too small but I just ignored it. It downloaded but whenever I play the game it is broken. I can't click on certain parts of the screen, and when I do it will either just not work, minimize the window, or crash the game. I also can't take the game out of fullscreen mode. Is there any workaround/fix to what's going on here? I assume I'm not the first person with the problem but I couldn't find a thread.

it's not the inches, it's the # of pixels in use, or potentially too few pixels.
change your resolution -- increase it. even a 'small' screen likely is at least 1366*768 (i may be off on the #s a off top of head). you should be able to use this reso with the game, i'd assume. i've used a smaller window (~1280x720ish) on a 1080p desktop and it looked fine. if text is mashing up or truncated, reduce text size while still readable. increasing resolution will give you more working space on that 13.3" screen. that's why things may look smaller. "4" pixels is taking up a smaller area on same screen with a higher resolution in use. the 'too small' message means things are too big visually on screen at that low reso to display properly. |

Hi, you can try the following to try and reset the default resolution: * find the file app.cfg. This page should tell you where to find it; on Windows it should be in the hidden directory AppData. * open app.cfg with an editor, such as notepad, and find the line FULL_SCREEN, and set the next line to 0 * save and re-launch OOTP. I did just check loading up OOTP in full-screen mode on a laptop with a 720p screen, and it did seem to be OK. IIRC going to full-screen mode was problematic on Linux; normally I run OOTP windowed / maximized, and let it figure out the resolution (which it seems to be able to do). Hope this helps, -kr- |
