Extreme Outlier
Has anyone had a guy have an extreme outlier start to the season like this?
His BA is .420 against righties. I can't believe how well he is hitting. His split is pretty ridiculous, which is why I don't use him against lefties. As an aside, if you are wondering about the WL season, that is the Australian Winter League. He was going up against a bunch of minor leaguers, which makes his current season even weirder considering he is facing a much greater talent pool. I'm interested to see how he ends his season. I certainly expect a regression to the mean. |

I don't have a screenshot, and I don't think it's nearly as extreme as what you have depicted here.
I was playing a replay league where in the year 1913, I traded about half of my roster to move up to the number one pick to take Babe Ruth. I had a guy named Vic Saier who was coming off of an MVP season, but no one was really offering much for him in a trade. So I kept him, and my lineup was Zach Wheat, Saier, and then Ruth. The rest of the lineup were players who struggled to stay above the Mendoza line. Saier went on to hit 26 home runs by the All Star break which was about twice my league record. He finished the season with 29, and he couldn't keep his job as the starting first baseman the next year. I kept Ruth in my lineup as my starting right fielder from day one. He didn't get to 29 *career* home runs until 1920. |

Pretty certain the game he's playing has modern day or near-modern day modifiers.

outlier is relative to baseline... without that, no idea, can't say anything of relevance, really

I posted this earlier, but Joey Gallo had a pretty extreme outlier season in 2019. Not my player, but here are the league leaders at the end of the year:
Highlights 26 more HR than anybody (79!!) 2.3 more WAR than anybody .130 higher SLG than anybody .103 higher OPS than anybody 33 more RBI than 2nd (61 more than 3rd place) 12 more runs .130 higher ISO Almost 90 more total bases It's completely insane, and a complete outlier for the league, and in his career, though he followed it up with 61 and 60 homer seasons, and halfway through the current one is on pace to almost hit 60 again. His average crashed to more realistic levels though. Last edited by schreck; 05-31-2017 at 12:08 PM. |

How about an outlier of one guy vs. the rest of the league? I recently had a 5-star catcher pop up somehow in the Dutch League. What does it look like when a 5-star guy plays 20 years against a bunch of 0.5-star guys? A little bit like this:

I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for, but here is how he ranks in league leaders. Keep in mind that he only plays against righties, so he misses out on a lot of at bats. |

Someone already mentioned Joey Gallo but he had a 2018 season where he led the league in HRs with 12 more then the batter in 2nd place.
