I'm making the leap into a universe separate from the tourneys I've been running....lol

Announcing the Infinity Boxing Association.

I'm starting things off with all active fighters in the origional 8 weight classes.

I've moved all the "junior" weight classes up to the next class, and have moved Cruiser Weights down to the LHW division. Straw's are also moved up to FlyWeight's along with the Jr. Flyweights.

I will start the Universe in 2010, fighting random fights on a monthly basis for a 5 year period to set up seedings. At the end of 2014 there will be a 16 fighter tournament for each weight class. I'm also using the default ratings as provided with the game. Each champion must make 4 defenses per year including one manditory against the #1 challenger. If a fighter is inactive for more than 6 months, he will be dropped to #101 in the rankings as only active fighters deserve to be ranked.

Also, every 5 years, starting from 2015 I will introduce 10% of the retired fighter pool. so that by by the year 2060 all Fighters in the database will be involved. After a fighter has fought for 15 years, or 100 fights he will be retired, as I won't be using the aging feature for my first effort, as I'm not knowledgeable on that yet, and this being my first effort it's somewhat of an experiment as well as a learning experience........lol

All tournament, elimination fights and regional title fights shall be 12 rounds, all World Title fights shall be 15 rounds.

At this time there will only be the IBA as the governing body for all of boxing, as I abhor the alphabet soup our sport has become....lol

I will use the 10 point must system, a fighter cannot be saved by the bell with the exception of the final round. Also will use the manditory 8 count as well as the 3 knockdown rule to protect fighters from undue harm.

I will also be setting up regional titles as well, to be announced in a day or 2 once everything's set up.

More as I think of it, also if ya'll have suggestions, as I am new to this, feel free to chime in!

Cant wait to see what you come out with Infinity, you know what your doing. Is this going to include certain rivalries etc? stories and stuff?

Rivalries, yes but not the ones we're all used to....Any rivalries will be ones that come out of actual fight results as it grows. As for the articles, I'm not sure how well I'd do with those, so am thinking about that still. I take care of my invalid mother, so sometimes don't have enough time to put into things that I'd like. The writeups I've done thus far have been on the fly to be honest...lol

IBA To Recieve Financial Backing

The Infinity Boxing Association has entered into an agreement with Frump Enterprises today. Donald Frump, the real estate magnate has decided to make an attempt at reforming boxing, and has decided that the IBA is the best organization for the job.

"The Donald" as he's known, along with John "Infinity" Fehner released the following goals for the organization:

1. The key to turning boxing around and bringing it back to the main stream is the fighters themselves.
2. All boxers deserve full medical insurance, retirement benefits, financial coaching, reasonable pay at ALL levels of the sport, and an unbiased ratings system.
3. A good sports organization needs a marketing plan, and personalities to sell the product. To this end, A known marketing specialist shall be hired, with the announcement to be made soon.
4. All promoters involved with the IBA will be individuals that put the health and well being of the fighters, and the needs of the sport ahead of their greed. Negotiations are currently in the works at the time of this announcement, and will be made public as they are completed.
5. The ratings system for the IBA will be based on a computer model so that there cannot be any gerimandering, and will be overseen by Bert Sugarbeet, the well known boxing magazine Czar who's ratings in his publications have long been seen as the true ratings my most of the boxing fans.
6. The IBA is an evolving organization that will listen to all suggestions from all walks of life, from the boxers, to the promoters, to the officials, AND the general public. By allowing the public a voice, we hope that it will increase the public's interest in our sport.

There will be further updates in the near future on this groundbreaking announcement!

IBA Announces Regional Zones

IBA Commisioner John "Infinity" Fehner announced The sub titles that will be sanctioned by the IBA.

• North American Boxing Council - Will consist of Mexico, Canada and The United States.
• Asian Pacific Boxing Council - The entire Asian continent along The various Island Chains and Australia.
• European Boxing Council - The entire European continent, including Great Britain.
• African Boxing Council - The entire African continent.
• South-Central American Boxing Council - All of Central America along with South America.

Each Council has been formed with the precepts of the IBA in mind. ALL fighters will recieve the same considerations throughout the Infinity Boxing Association sphere of influence. This assures that all fighters will have a future after they retire from the game.

PD: Thanks for taking the time to talk with us today Mr. Fehner.

JF: It's my pleasure. I've enjoyed reading your publication for several years now. In my eyes, your publication's right up there with The Ring when it comes to unbiased reporting of the boxing scene.

PD: We appreciate that! Ok, our first question.... What makes you think that the IBA will be successful where the rest of the alphabet soup has failed?

JF: It all has to do with our charter. We, unlike the "competition" are dedicated not only to our fans, but first and foremost the safety and care of our fighters. After all, without the fighters, there is no sport of boxing. The other organizations seem to put the profits ahead of the product, which in our opinion is totally backwards.

PD: How can you be sure that the fighters are going to buy into this, with the money that the promoters and the other organizations have to throw at them?

JF: The major thing is to educate the fighters about our program. I'm confident that once they see the total package, many of them will gladly join with us. Also, in many of the countries where boxing is popular, there's been talk about govermental regulations of the sport due to the greed of certain promoters and the corruption that has pervaded our sport. We are working with those goverments, in hopes that rather than having them take over the sport, they will help us realise the goals that we share with those goverments. Namely a safer sport, that takes better care of the atheletes from the beginnings of their journey, to the end and beyond into retirement.

PD: Now that's interesting. Have any of these goverments actually bought into your plans yet?

JF: That's something that's still in the works, but you can expect some major announcements on that front in the next few weeks.

PD: It was mentioned that there will be a major PR Czar announced soon, has there been any progress there?

JF: Actually yes, and you'll have the exclusive first look at it. We have signed a contract with Rupee Murdock, the man that created the FOXY News and Entertainment Empire. He will be handling all of our PR, in return, we have a 5 year contract with his vast empire for television rights, PPV, some weekly boxing reality show ideas etc. The TV aspect of things is NOT exclusive, as we also are working with WESPN on some concepts as well. Sorry to have to cut this short, but I have an appointment with the WESPN president Chris Ermine in a few minutes/

PD: That's quite a bombshell you dropped on us, I appreciate you're sharing it with our readers first! Thanks for taking the time, and we hope to meet with you again sometime in the future!

Changed the starting dates and a few other minor things in the opening post as there wasn't cable and such back in 1955, so I moved things to 2010 and onwards instead...lol

I know some of this is similiar to what others have done, but dammit ya'll have been at this longer than me....lol

I've also completed setting up the groupings, with a better idea of how I'll go about adding new (old) fighters as time goes on. I'll be starting some of the preliminary record building for the database of current fighters sometime today, and will post some of the more interesting results.

After having looked at the different divisions in each region, I've come to the realization that I'll need to add some TC's. So I will add 50 1's and 0's to each regional division. I'm thinking that will give me enough of a pool to allow the stronger fighters to rise to the top as in real life.

IBA announces Regional Title Tournaments

John "Infinity" Fehner announced today that each Regional title will be determined by a tourney for each weight class. The top 16 fighters in each as of 7-31-11 will meet in a seeded tournament to be held monthly with the finals being held on New Years Day 1-1-12.

The following year There will be a tournament that will include the 5 regional champions for each weight class along with the top 27 (total of 32) for each weight class. That field will be announced on 6-15-12 with the tourney starting 7-1-12 with the finals for each weight class's World Championship to be held 1-1-13.

1 - Juan Manuel Marquez 15-0-0 (10) vs 16 - Abner Mares 10-2-2 (5)Marquez and Mares both fought their hearts out With Marquez being the stronger of the 2 scoring a knockdown in the 9th and giving Mares a bloody eye enroute to a 10 round UD. Marquez improves to 16-0-0 (10)
2 - Erik Morales 14-0-0 (6) vs 15 - Manuel Medina 10-3-2 (1) Morales does just enough to earn a 10 split decision in a lackluster performance by both fighters. Morales goes to 15-0-0 (6)
3 - Nestor Garza 13-0-0 (5) vs 14 - Freddie Norwood 9-2-1 (3) - Norwood dominates Garza despite having to get up in the 5th from a devastating hook to defeat a bloody Garza with a 6 TKO! NOrwood improves to 10-2-1 (4) while Garza gets his first loss!

2 - Jorge Arce 12-0-1 (7) vs 15 - Chris Fuller 11-1-2 (1) - The fighters accidentally butt heads in 1st cutting Fuller's right eye. Arce then pours it on trying to get the KO before they stop the fight, finally in the 6th the ref stops the fight with Arce winning the 6 UTD. Saved Fuller a beating!
3 - Hugo Fidel Cazares 12-0-0 (8) vs 14 Samuel Gutierrez 8-3-2 (3) - Cazares spotted Gutierrez the first round then proceded to pummel Gutierrez for the last 9 rounds for an easy 10 UD improving to 13-0-0 (8)
4 - Mark Johnson 12-0-0 (5) vs 13 - Luis Maldonado 13-1-0 (4) - Johnson out slicked, out quicked and out hit Maldonado for 10 rounds scoring 2 knockdowns enroute to a dominating 10 round UD. Johnson improves to 13-0-0 (5)
5 - Ulises Solis 12-1-1 (5) vs 12 - Alejandro Montiel 8-1-4 (3) - The best punch of the night was a butt by Solis that cut Montiel. The cut reopened several times stopping the fight and giving Solis a 9 TKO when Montiel was ahead on 2 cards! A curious call when the cut came from an intentional butt! Solis improves to 13-1-1 (6)
6 - Gerardo Verde 10-0-3 (3) vs 11 Brian Viloria 8-1-3 (3) Verde scored a knockdown in the 1st and poured it on for the next 3 rounds, Viloria tries to storm back, and the 2 stand toe to toe for most of the fight, with Viloria winning a spirited 10 UD to improve to 11-0-3 (3)
7 - Jose Antonio Aguirre 11-1-1 (4) vs 10 Isaac Bustos 9-5-0 (0) - Aguirre was somewhat lethargic for the first 4 rounds but stormed back, cutting Bustos then scoring knockdowns in each of the last 3 rounds, earning a decisive 10 round UD to improve to 12-1-1 (4)
8 - Will Grigsby 12-2-1 (1) vs 9 - Cesar Lopez 10-1-4 (1)

- Interesting boxing match with no fireworks. Each of the 10 rounds hard to score these 2 were so evenly matched...so they get to do it again, 10 draw..Grigsby goes to 12-2-2 (1) and Lopez goes to 10-1-5 (1)

Monte Barrett used slick boxing to avoid Oliver McCall's superior power as these 2 fought their hearts out in this one. Barrett earns a 10 UD 97-93 96-94 97-93 to improve to 11-3-1 (2)

Chad Dawson knocked down Kelvin Davis for the first time in his short career enroute to a 96-93 97-92 96-94 10 UD. Both men stood toe to toe in the 10th trying to score a KO, but survived a furious round! Dawson improves to 16-0-1 (6)

Francisco Bojado finally figured out the puzzle that is Oscar Diaz, scoring 2 knockdowns in the 10th to open up what was a close fight through 9...Bojado wins 96-92 97-91 97-91 to fatten his record to 15-0-1 (4)

Nate Campbell came out throwing bombs, cutting Jesus Chavez in the 3rd then scoring a devastating knockdown in the 3rd. Chavez somehow survived the carnage, came out throwing some bombs of his own in the 4th only to have Campbell widen the cut to the point that the referee stopped the bout 4 TKO for Campbell who improves to 13-1-2 (8)!

Daniel Ponce-DeLeon got up from a knockdown in the 2nd by Rocky Juarez to fight his way back into this despite a cut over his right eye and a nearly closed left eye to score a devastating knockout in the 8th round of this action packed fight. Through 7 all 3 judges had it 66-66! Ponce-DeLeon improves to 13-0-2 (9)

Will Grigsby used better movement in this rematch against Cesar Lopez to earn a 10 UD 98-93 99-92 99-94 to move to the next round of the tourney.. Grigsby improves to 13-2-2 (1)

5 - Raymond Narh 11-2-1 (5) vs 12 - Justin Juuko 11-2-1 (3) - This was a W A R !! Both men stood toe to toe the entire fight, scoring at will. Narh was dropped in the 5th, barely getting up in time then taking a terrible beating that some thought should have been stopped. In the 6th, it continued, but somehow Narh turned the tide and reciprocated the knockdown, this one for a 10 count! Narh escapes with a 6 KO and improves to 12-2-1 (6)!

Masoe stormed out in the first 2 rounds when Takaloo suddenly lands a hook to drop Masoe the 3rd round was a thing of beauty as both men landed bombs Takaloo started to assert himself taking the next 3 rounds, then Masoe came back strong in the 7th The 8th saw both men toe to toe with Takaloo gaining the edge, then dominating in the final 2 rounds with knockdowns in each. Takaloo earned this decision the hard way 96-91 97-90 97-90 as even when he won rounds, Masoe made his presence known! 4 - Denis Inkin 12-2-0 (8) vs 13 - Krzysztof Wlodarczyk 10-1-2 (7) - Wlodarczyk was game, but Inkin was much too strong for him, scoring 6 knockdowns, the final 3 in the 10th round to earn a 10 TKO and improve to 13-2-0 (9)
5 - Enzo Maccarinelli 13-2-0 (4) vs 12 - Mikkel Kessler 11-2-0 (6) - This fight had the makings of a slugfest before Kessler suffered a nasty gash that stopped the action in the 5th! Maccarinelli improves to 14-2-0 (5)
6 - Tomasz Adamek 12-2-1 (7) vs 11 - Vadim Tokarev 11-1-2 (1) - Tokarev survived a brutal attack that saw him on his back in the 1st, and saw Adamek building up a nice lead when Tokarev came on strong in the 8th to score a controversial TKO! The crowd was livid, as was Adamek who looked like he'd weather the storm when Jankowiak stopped the fight at 2:51 in the 8th. Adamek lead on all 3 cards 68-63 68-63 68-64 through 7! Tokarev improves his record to 12-1-2 (2) as Adamek's corner demanded a rematch!
7 - Alexander Alexeev 12-1-1 (7) vs 10 - Markus Beyer 11-2-1 (1) - little doubt who the stronger fighter was in this one, as Alexeev scored 3 knockdowns, including 2 in the fatal 8th round to score a 8 KO and improve to 13-1-1 (8)
8 - Yuri Barashian 12-1-2 (5) vs 9 - Giacobbe Fragomeni 11-1-2 (3) - Lots of action in this bout, with Barashian proving the stronger with 2 knockdowns, though Fragomeni resolutely picked himself up both times to make a fight of it. Barashian prevailed in 10 very entertaining rounds 96-92 96-92 95-94 to improve to 13-1-2 (5)

Middleweights

1 - Arthur Abraham 14-0-0 (8) vs 16 - Yuri Foreman 7-4-1 (1) - An interesting fight with most rounds being very close throughout brought this one to a draw! Abraham remains unbeaten at 14-0-1 (8) and Foreman suprises everyone at 7-4-2 (1). Rematch will come in 2 weeks, and should be entertaining!
2 - Richard Williams 13-0-0 (6) vs 15 - Sebastian Zbik 9-4-1 (2) - Zbik confounded Williams in this bout to hand hi his first loss and improve to 10-4-1 (2) with the scores 97-93 95-95 97-93.
3 - Howard Eastman 12-0-1 (8) vs 14 - Reda Zam Zam 8-3-3 (4) - This one was as action packed as they come, with Eastman building up a decent lead when Zam Zam went BAM with a right hand that ended Eastman's unbeaten streak in the 9th round! Eastman lead 77-75 76-76 78-75 through 8! Hell, I'd pay to see these 2 lock up again! Zam Zam improves to 9-3-3 (5)
4 - Felix Sturm 14-1-0 (1) vs 13 - Raymond Joval 8-1-6 (3) - Good action bout that could have gone either way with most rounds being too close to predict the score, but Sturm earned a hard fought win 98-94 97-96 97-96 to improve to 15-1-0 (1). Yet another that was worth the price of admission!
5 - Sergei Dzindziruk 11-0-2 (7) vs 12 - Ryan Rhodes 12-2-2 (2) - Dzindziruk remains unbeaten after administering a beating to a game Rhodes. Some great action in this fight, but Rhodes just didn't have the skills to handle Sergei and was dropped 2 times in this bout. Dzindziruk improves to 12-0-2 (7)
6 - John Duddy 12-1-1 (7) vs 11 - Zaurbek Baysangurov 11-1-1 (7) - Duddy scored a knockdown in the 3rd round that nearly ended the fight, but proved to be a one trick pony as Baysangurov dominated the latter rounds to improve to 12-1-1 (7) with a 98-91 97-92 96-93 decision.
7 - Alexander Zaitsev 11-1-1 (7) vs 10 - Kuvanych Toygonbayev 11-2-0 (4) - Zaitsev was game, but couldn't handle the power of Toygonbayev, being dropped 5 times in the fight, 3 times in the fatal 9th as Toygonbayev improves to 12-2-0 (5) with a devastating TKO!
8 - Aslanbek Kodzoev 11-1-1 (2) vs 9 - Roman Karmazin 11-2-0 (4) - A nice close bout that was ended when the cut over Kodzoev's right eye opened widely for the 3rd time, handing Karmazin a TKO in the 7th. Fight was a draw to this point as neither man could pull ahead. Karmazin improves to 11-2-0 (5)

1 - Junior Witter 14-0-0 (1) vs 16 - Nigel Wright 10-2-3 (2) - Suprisingly close tactical bout that saw Witter suffer a cut over his right eye, but his corner did a great job enabling him to earn a well deserved victory 96-94 96-93 96-94 to remain unbeaten at 15-0-0 (1)
2 - Michael Jennings 15-0-0 (1) vs 15 - Giovanni Parisi 11-3-0 (6) - Brutal fight that saw Parisi get himself cut from an intentional butt that HE lost a point for! Parisi then scored the lone knockdown in the 10th, but Jennings held on to pull out a hard fought split decision 95-94 96-94 93-96. Jennings remains unbeaten at 16-0-0 (1)
3 - Ricky Hatton 14-1-0 (8) vs 14 - Gavin Rees 8-2-3 (2) - Pure brutality in this fight with Rees going down in the 6th, Hatton going down 2 times in the 8th and Rees going down 2 times in the 10th, the final time being saved by the bell! The score cards said it all in this one! 95-90 94-91 96-90 as the crowd roared it's approval for both warriors! Hatton improves to 15-1-0 (8) as he survives this scare!
4 - Jackson Osei Bonsu 12-0-3 (7) vs 13 - Vyacheslav Sencenko 9-3-3 (3) - Sencenko proved to be the better man in this one, landing a knockdown right in the 9th enroute to a 97-93 97-94 97-94 victory to hand Bonsu his first loss. Sencenko improves to 10-3-3 (3)
5 - Thomas Damgaard 11-1-1 (6) vs 12 - Brice Faradji 9-2-3 (1) - Damgaard scored 2 knockdowns in the 3rd round, the second one for the count! Damgaard improves to 12-1-1 (7) with a 3 KO!
6 - Colin Lynes 10-3-1 (2) vs 11 - Allan Vester 10-3-0 (0) - Both men drew several flags for holding, as they both failed their auditions for dancing with the stars. Vester did barely enough to win 97-95 96-94 96-95 and improve to 11-3-0 (0)
7 - Andreas Kotelnik 11-2-1 (2) vs 10 - Maxim Nesterenko 8-3-3 (0) - Interesting fight that saw both men spend time on the canvas, but when all was said and done, neither man impressed enough to earn the victory. Kotelnik is now 11-2-2 (2) and Nesterenko is now 8-3-4 (0) as both men gear up for a rematch in 2 weeks.
8 - Viktor Plotnikov 10-2-1 (5)) vs 9 - Yuriy Nuzhnenko 11-2-2 (2)

- This bout was scored a questionable Technical Draw in the 4th round. The reason it was questionable is Plotnikov already had bad cuts on his right eyebrow and left eyelid that should have stopped the fight, and the 3rd cut over his left eyebrow was clearly from a punch, yet the referee inexplicably scored it as a inadvertant head butt! Plotnikov moves to 10-2-2 (5) and Nuzhnenko moves to 11-2-3 (2) as these men are scheduled to meet again in 2 weeks.

Lightweights

1 - Carl Johanneson 13-0-2 (3) vs 16 - Leva Kirakosyan 8-5-0 (3) - This was a tale of 2 fights. In the first fight (6 rounds) Kirakosyan fought to an even draw, Kirakosyan faded in the second (final 4 rounds) fight as Johanneson dominated, including a knockdown in the 10th to seal the deal. Johanneson improves to 14-0-2 (3) with a score of 97-92 on all 3 cards!
2 - Koba Gogoladze 11-1-0 (1) vs 15 - Steve Conway 8-5-2 (0) - Other than scoring a knockdown in the 5th, Gogoladze was unimpressive in winning this one 95-94 96-93 96-93 to improve to 12-1-0 (1)
3 - Alex Arthur 12-2-0 (7) vs 14 - Kirkor Kirkorov 9-3-2 (1) - Arthur was simply dominating in this bout, scoring 2 knockdowns against the hapless Kirkorov to win 100-90 100-89 100-89. Arthur improves to 13-2-0 (7)
4 - Matt Zegan 13-1-0 (6) vs 13 - Amir Khan 11-3-0 (2) - Zegan was dominating, scoring a knockdown enroute to a score of 97-92 on all 3 cards. Zegan moves forward with a record of 14-1-0 (6)
5 - Artur Grigorian 11-1-2 (4) vs 12 - Craig Docherty 11-1-2 (2) - Grigorian came out strong, winning the first 2 rounds, then Docherty opened a cut on the left eyelid in the 3rd, reopened it and made it worse in the 4th, at this point the fight was dead even Grigorian's corner implored him to finish the fight as they didn't think he'd be able to continue much longer, and he came out storming in the 5th, raining blows so fast that Docherty couldn't answer! finally a vicious right hand deposited Dochery on the canvas for a 10 count! KO in 5! Grigorian improves to 12-1-2 (5)
6 - Tontcho Tontchev 11-2-2 (4) vs 11 - Michael Gomez 12-1-1 (5) - Gomez controlled the early part of this fight, but faded in the 6th, with Tontchev taking firm control in the last half of the fight, scoring 2 knockdowns in the 10th to win 96-93 97-92 98-92 and improve to 12-2-2 (4)
7 - Stefano Zoff 12-1-0 (0) vs 10 - Janos Nagy 11-2-1 (5) - This one was pretty even until the 5th when Zoff scored his first knockdown, then took control the rest of the way scoring another knockdown in the 10th enroute to a 97-91 97-91 97-92 victory. Zoff improves to 13-1-0 (0)
8 - Almazbek Raiymkulov 10-3-0 (2) vs 9 - Yuri Romanov 11-3-0 (6) - Good action bout that would have been closer if it weren't for knockdowns in the 2nd and 8th by Raiymkulov. Despite Romanov's heroic effort to overcome the knockdowns, Raiymkulov wins a split decision 93-95 95-93 95-93 to improve to 11-3-0 (2)

Featherweights

1 - Bernard Dunne 13-0-0 (4) vs 16 - Theodosio Rapado 9-4-0 (2) - Rapado was bleeding rapidly (pardon the pun...lol) when the fight was stopped due to cuts over both eyes in the 5th as Dunn put forth a punishing effort to win a 5 TKO and remain undefeated at 14-0-0 (5)
2 - Rendall Munroe 12-0-0 (0) vs 15 - Tuncay Kaya 9-3-2 (1) - A LOT of close rounds in this somewhat slow bout that saw Kaya hand Munroe his first defeat and improve to 10-3-2 (1). The score was 97-93 96-94 98-92.
3 - Cyril Thomas 10-0-2 (1) vs 14 - Gill Menano 4-6-2 (0) - Thomas remains undefeated in this somewhat boring boxing clinic to improve to 11-0-2 (1). Personally I didn't think it was as close as the 97-94 95-95 97-94 scores reflected.
4 - Nicky Cook 11-2-0 (4) vs 13 - Bernalldino Csar 6-4-3 (1) - Csar came out and dominated the first round..and not much else as this fight ended in the 10th due to a cut from an accidental butt in the 9th. Csar was sent to the canvas 2 times prior to this as Cook won handily in a 10 round Technical Decision 88-80 87-81 87-81 to improve to 12-2-0 (4)
5 - Spend Abazi 9-1-2 (1) vs 12 - Esham Pickering 7-2-4 (0) - A lot of very close rounds in this snoozefest made things seem closer than they were, but Abazi prevailed 97-93 95-95 96-94 to improve to 10-1-2 (1)
6 - Mateus Rincn 7-1-4 (1) vs 11 - Dyoguo Rxo 8-4-1 (0) - There were few cheers to be had in this mediocre effort from both fighters that saw Rxo win 96-94 96-95 97-93 to improve to 9-4-1 (0)
7 - Ramao Casacubierta 10-3-1 (1) vs 10 - Santos Machado 9-3-1 (2) - Casacubierta scored 1 knockdown in this suprisingly entertaining boxing match to win 97-94 99-94 97-94 and improve to 11-3-1 (1)
8 - Derry Matthews 8-3-2 (1) vs 9 AntoOio Castelo 8-3-0 (2) - Matthews injured his hand knocking down Castelo in the 2nd round, and Castelo lost a point in the 2nd round for a blatant low blow. Matthews couldn't do much other than that due to the hand, and needed every bit of that 10-7 round to hold on for a 94-94 96-93 95-94 Majority Decision and improve to 9-3-2 (1)

1 - David Guerault 13-0-0 (2) vs 16 - Gijs Kalkema 6-4-3 (0) - Geuralt showed why he's the #1 seed in this tourney winning handily 99-91 99-91 96-94 to remain undefeated at 14-0-0 (2)
2 - Wladimir Sidorenko 12-0-0 (0) vs 15 - Ed van de Brekel 5-5-4 (0) - Sidorenko boxed a near flawless fight to earn a 99-92 98-93 99-92 decision, improving to 13-0-0 (0)
3 - Marat Mazimbaev 12-1-0 (4) vs 14 - Lou Francken 6-5-3 (1) - Mazimbaev scored a knockdown in the 1st, and inflicted a nasty cut over Francken's left eye and was then content to box until the cut reopened to hand him a TKO in the 7th with him well ahead on all cards. Mazimbaev improves to 13-1-0 (5)
4 - Sven Arents 11-2-1 (0) vs 13 - Elmar van der Heide 7-4-3 (0) - van der Heide did just enough to win this "battle" of the ineffectuals 98-92 96-94 97-93 to raise his record to 8-4-3 (0)
5 - Gjelt Muijen 8-2-3 (2) vs 12 - Dave Pasveer 8-3-2 (1) - Mediocrity was the order of the day in this bout as the score was 96-96 96-96 96-95 (Muijen) for a majority draw. Muijen goes to 8-2-4 (2) and Pasveer goes to 8-3-3 (1) as they get ready for a rematch in 2 weeks.
6 - Sasha Bakhtin 10-2-0 (3) vs 11 - Lucas Teune 7-3-3 (0) - Bakhtin scored knockdowns in the first 2 rounds only to see Teune fight his way back into the fight, when suddenly in the 9th round Teune threw his head as if it were a fist! Teune was immediately disqualified, handing Bakhtin a win by DQ in the 9th. the scores were 76-74 76-74 75-75 at the time as Teune thew away what looked to be an amazing comeback from 2 10-8 rounds to start the bout! Bakhtin improves to 11-2-0 (3). Given the lack of any other offenses in this bout, and the fact that the butt did no damage, the crowd roundly boo'd the result!
7 - Lasse Boermeester 10-2-2 (4) vs 10 Cees Westerbos 9-5-1 (2) - Boermeester came in a 3-1 favorite and went out on a guerney after being KO'd at :58 in the 1st round! Westerbos improves to 10-5-1 (3)
8 - Norman Schooten 7-3-4 (1) vs 9 Simone Maludrottu 6-5-2 (0) - Maldrottu built up a nice lead then withstood a blistering go for broke attack in the 10th to earn a close decision 96-95 97-94 97-94 decision and improve his lackluster record to 7-5-2 (0)

Flyweights

1 - Andrea Sarritzu 12-0-1 (2) vs 16 - Hildebrand Hak 7-8-1 (1) - Sarritzu came in a 7-1 favorite, but was lackluster in this bout, allowing Hak to survive for a draw 97-95 96-96 95-96. Sarritzu remains unbeaten at 12-0-2 (2) and Hack moves to 7-9-1 (1). Rematch in 2 weeks.
2 - Jose Lopez Bueno 11-1-1 (2) vs 15 - Quint Melis 7-4-2 (0) - The fans spent most of this fight booing the contestants as neither man seemed willing to actually fight. Lopez Bueno slept his way to a 94-96 96-94 96-94 split decision that could have gone either way. Bueno improves (if you can call it that) to 12-1-1 (2)
3 - Gerrie van Eck 11-1-2 (1) vs 14 - Derrick Tuk 7-4-2 (2) - Tuk outsmarted van Eck in a mildly entertaining bout to earn a 97-92 (x3) decision and improve to 8-4-2 (2)
4 - Dale Robinson 12-1-2 (2) vs 13 - Henny Els 8-5-0 - Bad fighting and bad officiating marred this bout as both men had a point taken away, though Els's was rather questionable. The fight ended up a draw, 95-94 92-96 96-96. Let's hope these 2 come to fight in 2 weeks for the rematch!
5 - Youp van Emden 11-2-2 (0) vs 12 - Stuart Kodde 7-5-1 (2) - van Emden scored a knockdown in the 2nd and dominated the rest of the way to win 99-91 99-91 99-92 to improve to 12-2-2 (0)
6 - Brahim Asloum 10-2-1 (0) vs 11 - Jason Booth 11-1-0 (4) - Both men made a decent effort that was cut short by a nasty gash over Booth's left eye in the 7th with the score 57-57 58-56 58-56 for Asloum. Asloum gets the 7 TKO and moves on with an 11-2-1 (1) record.
7 - Sibrand Schneider 9-4-2 (1) vs 10 - Garm Klink 9-3-1 (1) - A lot of anyone's guess type of rounds lead to a varied scorecard, but the right man came out on top 96-94 98-92 99-91 in favor of Schneider who improves to 10-4-2 (1)
8 - Bertil de Keizer 9-3-1 (0) vs 9 - Hendri Heerens 7-3-3 (0) - de Keizer scores his first KO, in the 1st to improve to 10-3-1 (1) as Heerens couldn't beat the count!

Vikto Plotnikov was knocked down by Yuriy Nuzhnenko in the 6th round, only to have Nuzhnenko have 2 points deducted for fouls. No fouls Nuzhnenko wins, but with the fouls, it was yet another draw for the 2 fighters! 94-94 94-94 96-94 for Plotnikov who's record is now 10-2-3 (5) while Nuzhnenko moves to 11-2-4 (2) Rematch in a week!
Andreas Kotelnik and Maxim Nesterenko fought a spirited bout that saw Kotelnik well behind on points going into the 10th, despite Kotelnik having a point deducted. Kotelnik scored knockdowns in the 9th and 10th, with the final one being lights out for Nesterenko! Kotelnik improves to 12-2-2 (3) as he moves to the next round!
Arthur Abraham finally lived up to expectations against a game Yuri Foreman 99-91 99-91 97-93 though there were times that Foreman gave as good as he recieved, he just couldn't pull it off against Abraham at his best! Abraham improves to 15-0-1 (8)
Sultan Ibragimov and Andrew Golota came to war again! This time however, Ibragimov was the stronger, scoring 3 knockdowns...the fight was stopped in the 9th however, not because of the knockdowns, but the fact that Ibragimov tore up Golata's mouth to the point that the ring doctor ordered the fight to stop! Ibragimov was ahead 76-74 77-72 77-72 through the 8th. Score it a 9 TKO as he improves to 13-2-2 (5)!
Dale Robinson came out ready to go this time around, dominating Henny Els for 10 rounds. Els went to the canvas in the 8th, but couldn't muster much of an attack against the superior Robinson, who wins 99-92 97-93 99-92 to improve his record to 13-1-3 (2)

Rematch of a Rematch Round:

Vikto Plotnikov met Yuriy Nuzhenko for the 3rd time in this tourney, and we did finally get a result! Plotnikov knocked Nuzhenko down early, and cut him several times before a close bout was stopped in the 10th round due to profuse bleeding! The score was 86-84 86-84 85-85 through the 9th, and the TKO improves Plotnikov's record to 11-2-3 (5) and propels him to the second round!

Thus ends the first round of the EBA championship tourney!

3 - Ramon Garbey 11-2-1 (5) vs 14 - Cesar Otero 5-4-4 (2) - Excellent fight here as Otero came out smoking, taking the first 4 rounds! Garbey turned the tide and took 5-7, only to have Otero easily take 8. At this point Otero was up by 2 on all 3 cards! Garbey however had different plans, scoring a knockdown for a 10-8 round in the 9th to make it anyone's fight in the 10th, then scoring yet another knockdown in the 10th to pull out the fight 95-93 on all 3 cards! Simply a back and forth battle that both men can be proud of! Garbey improves to 12-2-1 (5)
4 - Carl Davis Drumond 10-1-3 (4) vs 13 - Paco Torres 11-3-1 (3) - One of those action fights you hate to see end! Drumond and Torres went back and forth, and in the end, it was 95-95 95-95 94-96 (Torres) for a Majority Draw! 2 weeks from now they will lace em up again!
5 - Fernely Feliz 10-3-0 (2) vs 12 - Juan Jose Cantu 8-4-1 (2) - Feliz was simply too strong for Cantu in this one, dropping him in the 8th and 2 more times in the 10th enroute to a 98-90 96-91 97-90 and improve to 11-3-0 (2)

8 - Evans Quinn 10-3-0 (5) vs 9 - Elieser Castillo 9-2-4 (2) - Castillo knocked Quinn down in the 3rd, but couldn't continue past the 9th when a nasty cut over his right eye forced the bout to an end. Quinn improves to 11-3-0 (6) with the TKO! Twas a good fight however as it was even through the first 8 rounds on all 3 cards!

6 - Laudelino Jose Barros 13-2-0 (8) vs 11 - Uriah Grant 8-2-3 (6) - This was a spirited bout that saw Grant creeping ahead when suddenly he laid Barros out in the 5th...then the 6th started, and Grant was fury personified as he knocked Barros down again, then piled on the points until the ref stopped the bout for a 6 TKO! Grant improves to 9-2-3 (7)
7 - Richard Hall 11-1-0 (9) vs 10 - Hugo Garay 11-3-0 (1) - Hall was definitly the man of the hour in this bout, working Garay's body the first 4 rounds before putting him to sleep in the 5th! Hall improves to 12-1-0 (10)
8 - Manny Siaca 10-2-2 (7) vs 9 - Glencoffe Johnson 11-2-1 (6) - This was a monster fight with more momentum shifts than a close basketball game as first Siaca then Johnson took control back and forth until Johnson scored 3 knockdowns for a 10-7 round in the 7th. As it turned out he needed that 10-7 round to win 95-93 on all 3 cards! great battle as Johnson improves to 12-2-1 (6)

Middleweights

1 - Jorge Castro 12-0-1 (7) vs 16 - Juan Lopez 8-2-3 (0) - The round started slowly, when suddenly out of nowhere Castro lands a left hook that would have made Joe Frazier proud, putting Lopez out for the count in the 1st! Castro improves to 13-0-1 (8)
2 - Daniel Santos 14-0-0 (9) vs 15 - Francisco Antonio Mora 9-3-1 (3) - This one was a brawl from the opening bell with things going back and forth until Santos scored a knockdown in the 8th, then again in the 10th. The crowd was amazed that Mora was able to get up from either of the KD's and survive to force the decision. Santos won handily 97-91 96-93 97-91 to remain unbeaten at 15-0-0 (9)
3 - Andrew Lewis 13-1-0 (10) vs 14 - Sergio Martinez 10-3-1 (2) - In the first round Martinez was behind, but opened a deep cut over Lewis's left eye. In the second round Martinez reopened it with the very first punch and the blood just gushed out, forcing the stopppage at :13 in the 2nd for a TKO! Martinez vaults into the next round with this shocker, improving to 11-3-1 (3)
4 - Lenord Pierre 12-0-1 (3) vs 13 - Daniel Edouard 9-3-0 (3) - Edouard scored the lone knockdown in the 8th, which proved to be the only real highlight as he edges the previously unbeaten Pierre 95-94 97-92 95-94 to improve to 10-3-0 (3)
5 - Julio Cesar Vasquez 14-0-0 (9) vs 12 - Francisco Acosta 11-3-0 (1) - What started out as a brawl turned into a route in the 4th round as Acosta went down not once, but twice, the final time for good at 2:44 in the 4th! Vasquez remains undefeated at 15-0-0 (10)
6 - Giovanni Lorenzo 12-2-0 (4) vs 11 - Edison Miranda 12-4-0 (7) - Miranda was looking sharp in this brawl, piling on the points including a knockdown in the 7th. Lorenzo looked to be in for a long night when suddenly he unleashed a barrage of punches from all angles that dropped Miranda then forced Steele to step in and stop the bout for a 7th round come from behind TKO! Lorenzo improves to 13-2-0 (5)
7 - Santiago Samaniego 12-1-0 (7) vs 10 - Epifanio Mendoza 8-2-3 (4) - Samaniego came out roaring, nearly ending it in the 1st, then piled up a solid lead through 6 before running out of gas...Mendoza then took control, scoring knockdowns in the 9th and 10th to win this decision going away! The judges saw the fight the same at 96-92 for Mendoza who improves to 9-2-3 (4)
8 - Hector Camacho Jr. 9-1-3 (1) vs 9 - Juan Carlos Candelo 10-2-1 (2) - Candelo was simply the better conditioned fighter in this one, wearing Camacho down, then taking full control of the fight in the last 4 rounds to score a 97-93 98-92 97-93 decision. Candelo is now 11-2-1 (2)

Welterweights

1 - Kermit Cintron 12-0-1 (8) vs 16 - Manolo Chavez 8-4-2 (2) - Nothing froggish about the way Kermit Cintron fights as he stalked Chavez and beat him to a pulp scoring 2 knockdowns in the 4th and 2 in the 6th, the final one for the count! Cintron continues his unbeaten streak at 13-0-1 (9)
2 - Juan Urango 13-1-1 (7) vs 15 - Luis Garcia 6-5-3 (2) - Garcia tried every trick in the book, and it worked fairly well through the first 5 rounds, but then Urango unleashed his deadly power to put Garcia to sleep and improve to 14-1-1 (8)
3 - Alex Trujillo 12-2-0 (7) vs 14 - Juan Carlos Ceferino Villarreal 9-2-2 (0) - Good action fight that saw Trujillo stalking for 10 rounds and Villarreal dancing and countering well at times. Neither man went down, but at the end, it was a 96-94 94-96 96-94 split decision for the stronger Trujillo, who moves to the next round with a record of 13-2-0 (7)
4 - Carlos Quintana 11-1-0 (1) vs 13 - Vivian Harris 12-2-0 (4) - Not a lot of action from Harris in this one, as Quintana earns the decision 96-94 96-94 97-93 to improve to 12-1-0 (0)
5 - Carlos Baldomir 11-2-1 (1) vs 12 - Felix Flores 12-2-0 (7) - Flores floored Baldomir in the 6th, in a close bout that saw Baldomir fight his way back to earn a draw 94-96 95-95 96-94. Baldomir moves his record to 11-2-2 (1) and Flores to 12-2-1 (7) Rematch in 2 weeks!
6 - Henry Bruseles 9-1-2 (0) vs 11 - Dario Esalas 10-3-0 (6) - the most damage done by either fighter came from an accidental head butt that cut Bruseles badly enough that it went to the judges early. Bruseles did enough to win 69-65 68-65 67-66 and earn the 7 TD. Bruseles is now 10-1-2 (0)
7 - Dillon Carew 10-1-2 (2) vs 10 - Ricardo Torres 13-1-0 (9) - Torres came into this bout with a purpose, stunning Carew early and often, forcing a TKO in the 1st! Torres is now 14-1-0 (10)
8 - Teddy Reid 9-3-0 (3) vs 9 - Omar Weis 10-2-1 (2) - Teddy Reid had his moments, but they were too few and far between for him to have a chandce in this bout. Weis wins a 10 decision by the score of 95-94 97-92 97-92 to improve to 11-2-1 (2)

Lightweights

1 - Edwin Valero 13-0-0 (11) vs 16 - Miguel Callist 8-3-1 (3) - Valero came roaring out showing little respect for Callist, and after a blistering 1 & 1/2 rounds he put Callist down for the count! With the 2 round KO Valero moves to 14-0-0 (12)
2 - Jose Alfaro 13-1-0 (9) vs 15 - Ricardo Silva 12-3-0 (0) - Alfaro knocked down the light hitting Silva in the 1st round, and was pulling away through 3 when Silva caused a cut by intentional head butt in the 4th and had a point deducted for it. The ref and doctor allowed it to continue, but when the cut reopened in the 5th, the ref stopped the fight and awarded Silva a TKO! This is a travesty folks, as with the butt, the bout should have gone to the score cards! Silva moves to 13-3-0 (1) with this gift.
3 - Joel Casamayor 13-1-0 (9) vs 14 - Javier Osvaldo Alvarez 11-2-0 (0) - Casamayor thoroughly thrashed Alvarez, scoring 3 knockdowns, the final 2 in the fatal 9th that saw Alvarez sleep through a 10 count. Casamayor improves to 14-1-0 (10)
4 - Yuriorkis Gamboa 11-0-0 (5) vs 13 - Fernando Angulo 10-2-1 (2) - Gamboa was just too strong in this one as a game Angulo was counted out on the 2nd knockdown in the 8th round. Gamboa's record remains unblemished at 12-0-0 (6)
5 - Carlos Gerena 13-1-1 (7) vs 12 - Jose Miguel Cotto 8-2-3 (6) - Both men looked aweful at times, and awefully good at times but Cotto had the legs at the end to pull out a tough split decision 95-96 96-94 97-94 to improve to 9-2-3 (6)
6 - Jorge Barrios 13-1-0 (4) vs 11 - Antonio Ramirez 12-2-1 (2) - Barrios was simply overwhealming in this fight, fact is I was shocked that they didn't stop the bout in the 6th as Barrios put a world of hurt on his opponent. Somehow Ramirez survived a knockdown in the 8th to remain on his feet at the end, but Barrios comes away with a 97-91 97-91 97-90 win to improve to 14-1-0 (4)
7 - Raul Fernandez 12-1-0 (2) vs 10 - Roman Martinez 10-2-2 (7) - Martinez used a flurry of punches to put Fernandez down for the count in the 6th in what had been a somewhat lopsided fight all along. Martinez improves to 11-2-2 (8)
8 - Raul Balbi 11-3-1 (3) vs 9 - Ricky Quiles 10-2-2 (1) - Balbi lost a point in the 10th that could have lost him the bout for hitting and holding as these 2 fighters were mauling one another throughout. Balbi wins on all 3 cards 95-94 to improve to 12-3-1 (3)

Featherweights

1 - Ricardo Cordoba 13-0-0 (8) vs 16 - Jose Estrella 9-3-2 (3) - Cordoba and Estrella accidentally clashed heads, causing a bad cut over Estrella's eye in the 1st. Cordoba pretty much took over from there, controling the action, not allowing Estrella much room to work with when the fight was stopped in the 5th, handing Cordoba a 5 UTD 40-36 39-37 39-37 to improve to 14-0-0 (8)
2 - Jorge Linares 14-0-0 (3) vs 15 - Gairy St Clair 7-3-3 (4) - Not much action in this one, as Linares controled the action with his ring savy, moving and firing away from outside, finally hitting St Clair hard enough to send him to the canvas in the 9th for a 6 count. St Clair lasted the distance, but Linares won handily 97-94 98-92 96-94 to improve to 15-0-0 (3)
3 - Celestino Caballero 13-0-0 (8) vs 14 - Oscar Leon 11-2-0 (3) - Caballero started out strong, controling the 1st round, and scoring a 8 count knockdown in the 2nd, and it looked like Leon was in for a short night. Lo and behold Leon landed a picture perfect uppercut that sent Caballero down for the count for a major upset! Leon moves to 12-2-0 (4) as Caballero tries to figure out how he gained his first loss!
4 - Felix Machado 15-1-0 (4) vs 13 - Francisco Martinez 9-2-3 (2) - Martinez started out strong, taking 3 of the first 4 rounds when suddenly Machado floored him for an 8 count. He gamely got up, but wasn't the same throughout the rest of the fight, also going down in the 8th as Machado wins 97-92 96-92 96-92 to improve to 16-1-0 (4)
5 - Julio Gamboa 13-0-0 (4) vs 12 - Freddy Cruz 9-2-2 (0) - Good action bout with a lot of close rounds through the first 8. Then Gamboa landed the right punch sending Cruz crashing to the canvas for a 6 count. He gamely recovered his footing, only to be sent to the ground yet again, this time for a 4 count. The fight was stopped when about 30 seconds later Cruz was deposited on his seat yet again, for a 9 TKO for Gamboa who improves to 14-0-0 (5)
6 - Antonio Cermeno 12-1-1 (5) vs 11 - Giovanni Andrade 10-1-1 (4) - Amazing back and forth action, with 3 rounds being among the best rounds seen in this round of the tourney thus far, but Andrade was the stronger, scoring a knockdown enroute to a 10 UD 97-92 97-93 96-93 to improve to 11-1-1 (4)
7 - Elroy Rojas 12-2-0 (4) vs 10 - Sergio Manuel Medina 11-2-1 (5) - Strong candidate for fight of the year here! This fight saw 5 knockdowns, Rojas went down in the 1st then took control from the 2nd through the 8th, scoring 2 knockdowns in the 8th. Medina then found the strength to score yet another knockdown in the 9th, only to have Rojas land yet another knockdown in the 10th! The fight went the distance, with the crowd on their feet cheering wildly for both fighters ad Rojas won a well earned decision 96-89 on all 3 cards! Rojas is now 13-2-0 (4).
8 - Jose Badillo 12-1-0 (8) vs 9 - Jose Rojas 13-2-0 (3) - yet another back and forth fight until the 10th, when Rojas scored a 10 KO! The score through 8 was 86-85 86-85 87-84 for Rojas at the time of the KO. This Rojas improves to 14-2-0 (4)!

Bantamweights

1 - Luis Alberto Perez 13-0-0 (8) vs 16 - Jorge Otero 9-4-1 (1) - Perez dominated in this one, despite being cut from an intentional butt by Otero in the 4th. Otero went down in the 5th, but held on to force it to the judges who saw it 98-91 97-92 97-92. Perez moves to 14-0-0 (8)
2 - Alexander Munoz 12-1-0 (8) vs 15 - Emilio Manuel 11-2-1 (1) - This bout started slowly when suddenly an awkward hook/uppercut cut Munoz so badly that the fight had to be immediately stopped in the 4th, score it a shocking upset TKO for Manuel who improves to 12-2-1 (2)!
3 - William Gonzalez 11-1-1 (5) vs 14 - Antonio Garcia 8-2-3 (0) - This fight was the epitome of dull until Gonzalez suddenly unleashed a vicious uppercut to floor Garcia in the 9th. He got up, but was sent to the canvas a second time before the bell rang. They returned to dullsville for round 10 and left it for the judges to sort it out. They saw it 96-94 97-93 96-94 for Gonzalez, who will have to perform better if he wishes to get past the next round! Gonzalez is now 12-1-1 (5)
4 - Luis Bolano 12-2-1 (7) vs 13 - Jose De Jesus Lopez 8-2-2 (5) - Bolano was cut in the 2nd, but pretty much dominated this one, knocking Lopez down in the 4th. He was cruising along when the cut split wide open from a Lopez jab to force the stoppage at 2:24 in the 7th to allow the now 9-2-2 (6) Lopez to continue on in this tourney!
5 - Feliciano Dario Azuaga Ledezma 10-1-2 (5) vs 12 - Jesus Salvador Perez 8-4-1 (2) - Great action bout in this one! Perez started out strong, then was dropped by Azuaga Ledezma in the 4th, then again in the 6th for the 10 count! Fight was dead even at the time of the stop as Perez did quite well to that point! Azuaga Ledezma improves to 11-1-2 (6)
6 - Pedro Rincon Miranda 12-1-2 (5) vs 11 - Julio David Roque Ler 12-1-0 (4) - Miranda just couldn't find an answer to the speed and power of Ler in this one as Ler knocked him down in the 8th on his way to a solid 98-91 97-91 98-90 decision. Ler is now 13-1-0 (4)
7 - Luis Bruno 9-2-3 (2) vs 10 - Mauricio Pastrana 9-3-2 (3) - Pastrana scored a knockdown in the first, was knocked down in the 5th, then scored another knockdown in the 8th enroute to a solid 96-91 96-91 95-91 over Bruno. Pastrana improves to 10-3-2 (3)
8 - Mauricio Martinez 9-1-2 (1) vs 9 - Ruben Osvaldo Condori 10-3-1 (1) Condori was quietly building a lead when in the 4th he was stunned by Martinez. Martinez's killer instinct kicked in and he pummeled Condori for the rest of the round with the referee stopping the bout at 2:54 in the 4th round for a TKO. The crowd boo'd the referee's decision as it was widely believed that he acted too soon. Martinez improves to 10-1-2 (2)

Flyweights

1 - Ronald Barrera 13-1-0 (4) vs 16 - Daniel Reyes 13-1-0 (8) - Barrera was determined to show he deserved his #1 seeding, knocking down Reyes in the 1st, then again in the 5th, then pounding away on a seriously dazed and confuzed Reyes until the referee mercifully ended the carnage! Barrera improves to 14-1-0 (5), silencing the critics about his power!
2 - Omar Narvaez 13-0-0 (6) vs 15 - Rafael Fuentes 8-4-1 (1) - Narvaez cut Fuentes with the very first punch of the fight, then proceded to pound away until the cut opened again in the 5th, bleeding so badly that the referee stopped the bout. Fuentes argued fiercely about it, but in this observers opinion it was a merciful decision as Fuentes was seriously over his head in this bout. Narvaez improves to 14-0-0 (7)
3 - Ivan Calderon 12-0-1 (2) vs 14 - Wellington Vincente 9-2-1 (1) - Dull fight that had me asking the ring gods to allow someone to end it and put the audience out of their misery. Calderon scored a knockdown that woke us all up for a brief moment, then they went back to sleep until the judges (how'd they stay awake?) determined that they all agreed, 97-94 for Calderon who remains unbeaten at 13-0-1 (2)
4 - Juan Palacios 12-1-1 (8) vs 13 - Jose Carita Lopez 11-2-0 (7) - Entertaining but very odd fight that saw Lopez dropped 3 times in the fight compared to Palacios's 1 time. The problem for Palacios is the only rounds he won were the 3 that had knockdowns! The ref's saw it 93-93 94-92 94-92 for Lopez who improves to 12-2-0 (7)
5 - Jhon Alberto Molina 13-1-0 (4) vs 12 - Lorenzo Parra 9-2-2 (8) - Parra simply dominated Molina, including a 5th round knockdown enroute to a 98-91 98-92 98-91 decision. Parra is now 10-2-2 (8)
6 - Roberto Vasquez 12-1-0 (5) vs 11 - Wilfrido Perez Valdez 10-1-2 (6) - Neither fighter could take control of this chess match. Both were expected to be banging away, but it never materialised, with the score being 95-95 96-94 95-96 as a Draw! These 2 will meet again in 2 weeks as Vasquez is now 12-1-1 (5) and Perez Valdez is now 10-1-3 (6)
7 - Noel Arambulet 11-1-0 (6) vs 10 - Juan Landaeta 12-1-0 (7) - This was a fight that everyone figured would have some fireworks. Both fighters tried to oblige, with Landaeta forging a lead despite a 1st round cut, when Arambulet reopened the cut, now a bad gash over the right eye. The fight was stopped as Landaeta just couldn't seem to see well with all the blood, with Arambulet moving on at 12-1-0 (7) with a 4th round TKO!
8 - Irene Pacheco 12-1-0 (9) vs 9 - Gilberto Tico Gonzalez 10-2-1 (5) - Pacheco had one thing in mind, and that was destruction! He scored knockdowns of Gonzalez in the 3rd and 4th, then in the 5th 2 more, BOTH 9 counts before the referee had seen enough! Pacheco improves to 13-1-0 (10)

Draw Rematches:

Paco Torres came out and shocked Carl Davis Drummond with a knockdown early in the 1st, then pulled away to win a 10 decision 98-92 97-92 96-94. Lot of close rounds, both men were wary of one another after their first matchup, and the action suffered because of it Torres improves to 12-3-1 (3)

Carlos Baldomir came out with a vengance against Felix Flores, winning every single round in my eyes even though neither man went down. The judges scored it 100-90 99-91 99-91 to improve to 12-2-1 (1) and will continue to the next round.

Roberto Vasquez took the decision out of the hands of the judges against Perez Valdez in this one, jumping out of the gate and landing a beautiful series of combinations leading to Valdez going to sleep for the night at 1:32 in the 1st round! Vasquez improves to 13-1-1 (6)
