Tefilo Stevenson would have been a nice addition

Stevenson is widely avaiable throughout the Title Bout Championship Community at such websites as CORNERWORK for example. I think he would beat Agramonte easily.

Due to the fact that this was started with the database as it was when I bought the game. I have made no changes to that database since. Also it's only for fighters that turned professional in their careers.

I was considering resurrecting this thread now that I'm back, but sadly the databases for both 2.5 AND 2013 have been corrupted in some way. I can repair this (easiest with 2013 believe it or not) but it will take some time to go through everything. I'm so disheartened right now I'm considering scrapping this labor of love and moving on. Or starting it over again.

Well the 2013 database has added fight results from somewhere, and the 2.5 DB is useless. So I will continue the tourney as my setup is still intact except for the records. I can do this because fighters fight when not in a tourney....so records won't just be from the tourney, but other fights inbetween so to speak. It's either that or scrap the tourney, start a new one with an updated database and go from there...opinions are welcome please...

We resume with Croatia, and I'll post these results in their entirety on this post.

HW:

Zeljko Mavrovic 2-1-0 (0) vs Mario Preskar 0-1-0 - These two met last tourney with Mavrovic wining a 10 round technical decision. This time around they went the distance, with the favored Mavrovic having little issue with Preskar, 8-7, 9-6 and 12-3.

LHW:

Mate Parlov 0-1-0 vs Stipe Drews 3-1-0 (2) - Last time they met, Drews upset Parlov with a 9th round KO. In the World Tourney Drews upset Victor Galindez with a TKO before losing to Sam Langford. Drew again pulled out his upset magic, this time stopping Parlov in the 14th on a TKO by cuts to improve to 4-1-0 (3).

SMW:

Stjepan Bozic moves on to the World Tourney with a 0-0-0 (0) record as this was his first entry into the dance.

JMW:

The lone entrant for this division, and moving on the the World Tourney is Marijan Benes with a 1-1-0 (1) record, having lost his second fight in the World Tourney last time around.

Next up is Cuba.

Cuba - Heavyweights - Round 1

Damned insomnia won't let me sleep, so here's the Cuban Heavyweight Division. We have 11 fighters with 2 new additions to the tourney. Solis Odlanier is again the favorite, despite losing to Nino Valdez in last years qualifying tourney. With 11 fighters we will have 5 fighters with byes.

Round 1:

Luis Ortiz 0-0-0 (0) vs Sparring Caballero 0-1-0 (0) - Caballero was game, not going down, but the pummeling he took in the first round prompted the referee to pull the plug with 3 seconds left in the round for the Ortiz TKO.

Omelio Agramonte 1-1-0 (1) vs Fierro Antolin 1-1-0 (1) - Agramonte had little trouble saddoing Antolin with his second defeat, earning the TKO at the 2:20 mark in the 1st.

Jose Ribalta 1-1-0 (0) vs Yanqui Diaz 0-1-0 (0) - Yet another favorite taking a 1st round TKO, this time on cuts at the 2:54 mark.

Cuba - Heavyweights - Quarter-Finals

Quarter-Finals:

Odlanier Solis 2-1-0 (1) vs Jose Ribalta 2-1-0 (1) - Solis dominated the outclassed Ribalta throughout to earn the 12-3, 13-2-1 and 7-5-2 decision.

Nino Valdez 6-1-1 (5) vs Omelio Agramonte 2-1-0 (2) - Valdez partied hard before this fight, while Agramonte came in in top condition. Valdez still came out fast, dominating the first two rounds only to have Agramonte show some spirit over the next two before Valdez dropped him twice en-route to the 5th round TKO.

Jorge Luis Gonzalez 0-1-0 (0) vs Luis Ortiz 1-0-0 (1) - Ortiz was the agressor throughout, but Gonzalez was quicker and built up a solid lead, cutting Ortiz in the 5th then reopening it in the 9th for the TKO on cuts.

Eliser Castillo 0-1-0 (0) vs Ismaikel Perez 0-0-0 (0) - Even though they exchanged knockdowns, Perez built up a solid lead then opened a nasty gash over the right eye of Castillo in the 11th that ended the bout.

Cuba - Heavyweights - Semi-Finals & Final

Semi-Finals:

Odlanier Solis 3-1-0 (1) vs Ismaikel Perez 1-0-0 (1) - A lackluster bout that went the full 15, Solis did just enough to win the majority of the rounds to earn the 146-140 (x2) 143-142 unanimous decision.

Nino Valdes 7-1-1 (6) vs Jorge Luis Gonzalez 1-1-0 (1) - Gonzalez used his legs to give Valdez fits for the first 7 rounds, then he tired, and Valdez started to land his customary hard shots to the body then went upstairs int he 12th, scoring the lone knockdown of the fight. Gonzalez was unable to answer the bell, securing a spot in the finals for Valdez.

Final:

Odlanier Solis 4-1-0 (1) vs Nino Valdes 8-1-1 (7) - Valdez came into this fight with a solid KO filled record that included a KO of Solis, but Solis was favored to avenge his loss due to his superior boxing skills. As it turned out, Solis was at the top of his game, cruising after the th round, even scoring the lone knockdown of the fight in the 8th enroute to the solid 147-138, 147-138 & 147-137 unanimous decision to move to his first World Tournament.

Cuba - Cruiserweights - Complete

Only 5 fighters in this division so there will be a single fight-in bout. I will post this division in it's entirety.

Fight-In:

Eliseo Castillo 1-1-1 (1) vs Damian Norris 0-1-1 (0) - These two have a history, having fought 2 bouts, the first a draw and the 2nd a KO boy Castillo. Castillo showed some slick movement, but tired by the 8th, allowing Castillo to get to him for the KO.

Semi-Finals:

Juan Carlos Gomez 6-1-0 (5) vs Eliseo Castillo 2-1-1 (2) - One bout between these pugilists, with Gomez stopping Castillo. This time around Castillo went the distance, but was embarrassed by Gomez 146-135, 145-137 & 146-136.

Yoan Pablo Hernandez 1-1-0 (1) vs Ramon Garbey 0-1-0 (0) - Hernandez scored a stoppage in their last meeting. With Hernandez on his toes, it was a close first few rounds, mainly due to Hernandez having a point deducted in the 3rd for rabbit punching. Hernandez took over from there, winning every round on my card, including a 10-8 round in the 6th after a knockdown. Hernandez just couldn't fight a clean fight however, and after a few more warnings for various infractions, he was disqualified in the 9th round for a blatant low blow.

Final:

Juan Carlos Gomez 7-1-0 (5) vs Ramon Garbey 1-1-0 (0) - Gomez had little trouble with Garbey, dropping him 3 times in teh 8th, again in the 11th and 13th before scoring the KO late in the 14th. He was up 129-114, 128-114 and 127-115 at the time of the KO. Gomez improves to 8-1-0 (6) heading into his second World Tourney.

Cuba - Light Heavyweights - Conclusive

Only 3 fighters in the Light Heavy division so top seeded Yordanis Despaigne will receive a bye.

Semi-Final:

Ali Sanchez 0-1-0 (0) vs Lino Rendon 0-0-0 (0) - Sanchez was the lone entrant in this division last time around and lost his first fight in the World Tourney. This time Sanchez had tough competition, going down twice (8th, 12th) before scoring his own knockdown in the 13th. Still, the fans expected close voting, and it was 143-140 (x2) 143-139 for Rendon who wins his inaugural bout.

Final:

Yordanis Despaigne 0-0-0 (0) vs Lino Rendon 1-0-0 (0) - Rendon was dominating through the 7th round, even scoring a knockdown for a 10-8 roundin the 7th only to fall prey to a Despaigne uppercut that put him down on the canvas for the count of 10. Despaigne heads to his first World Tourney berth.

Cuba - Middleweights - Complete

There are 5 fighters, so Julio Garcia and Baby Williams will stage a fight-in bout.

Fight-In:

Julio Garcia 1-1-0 (0) vs Baby Williams 0-1-0 (0) - Garcia holds a 1-0-0 advantage in their series thus far. This was a highly competitive fight with Willians dominating the first 8 rounds before Garcia tood over in the 9th. He then dropped Garcia in the 13th, then again late in the final frame for the KO. Unofficial Scorer Jim Trunzo had it 133-133 through the 14th round.

Semi-Finals:

Kid Tunero 5-1-0 (2) vs Julio Garcia 2-1-0 (1) - Tunero dominated throughout the lightning struck and Garcia found himself down face-first for the count.

Kid Charol 1-1-0 (0) vs Pedro Miranda 0-1-0 (0) - Sadly this fight was shortened to an accidental head butt in the 3rd. The fight continued, with Charol dropping Miranda for 5 in the 4th, then the cut over Miranda's left eye reopened and the doctor halted the bout and sent it to the judges who had it 39-36 each, all for Kid Charol.

Final:

Kid Tunero 6-1-0 (3) vs Kid Charol 2-1-0 (0) - Last time these fighters met Tunero stopped Charol on cuts in the 7th. This time Charol was involved in an accidental clash of heads, this time with his suffering a cut on the inside of the left eye in the 2nd. The cut reopened again in the 5th with the fight going to the cards. Close judging in this, with Tunero taking the first card 40-37, the 2nd card was even at 38 apiece and the final card was 39-37 for Tunero by technical majority decision. Tunero improves to 7-1-0 (3) heading into his second tourney.

Cuba - Welterweights - Round 1

There are 12 fighters in the hotly contested Welterweight Division. Such stalwarts as Jose Napoles, Kid Gavilan, Luis Manuel Rodriguez and Benny Paret will receive byes for the first round, setting up 4 fights heading into the next round.

Round 1:

Isaac Logart 1-1-0 (1) vs Pedro Napoles 0-1-0 (0) - Logart used every inch of the ring, moving well, causing Napoles to lunge in the punishing him for doing so. A masterful boxig performance earned Logarts an impressive 148-138 & 148-137 (x2) unanimous decision.

Jose Stable 0-1-0 (0) vs Sergio Rios 0-0-0 (0) - Stable simply out worked, out boxed and out smarted Rios in this one, finally stopping him for the TKO in the 12th round.

Kid Fichique 0-0-0 (0) vs Chico Varona 0-1-0 (0) - Close hard fought bout saw it go the distance with Fichique taking the first card 144-142, Varona taking the 2nd cdard 144-143 with the 3rd card being 143-143 for the draw. Rematch after the next bout.

Kid Charolito Spirituano 1-1-0 (1) vs Hicklet Lau 1-1-0 (0) - Spirituano had control early, then dropped Lau in the 7th and 8th before the referee called it in the 9th due to an immense amount of punishment, ending the tourney for Lau.

Rematch:

Kid Fichique 0-0-1 (0) vs Chico Varona 0-1-1 (0) - After 2 dull even rounds, both men really woke up in the 3rd, going back and forth with a vengance only to have Varona suffer a cut on the inside of the right eye for the TKO late in the round.

Cuba - Welterweights - Quarter-Finals

Quarter-Finals:

Jose Napoles 1-1-0 (1) vs Kid Charolito Spirituano 2-1-0 (2) - Napoles handed Spirituano his only loss by way of a 3rd round KO the first time they met. Spirituano lasted longer this time around, but the result was much the same as Napoles dominated, then dropped Spirituano twice enroute to the 8th round TKO.

Kid Gavilan 4-1-0 (1) vs Kid Fichique 1-0-1 (1) - Gavilan was up on his toes, punishing Fichique throughout, then when Fichique was exhausted, showed uncustomary agression in the 10th with an KO shot on a beautiful 1-2 early in the rouund.

Luis Manuel Rodriguez 2-1-0 (0) vs Jose Stable 1-1-0 (0) - Last tourney, Stable was on the wrong end of a lopsided decision, this time around he didn't last that long, as Rodriguez scored his first KO in the 12th round.

Benny Paret 0-1-0 (0) vs Isaac Logart 2-1-0 (1) - Paret lost a very close bout to Logart by way of a 14th round TKO. This time around, they again fought a spirited tactical match going the distance with Paret taking the first card 145-143, Logart the 2nd card 147-140. The 3rd card was 143-143 for the draw.

Rematch:

Benny Paret 0-1-1 (0) vs Isaac Logart 2-1-1 (1) - These two sure do know how to put on a show, they went back and forth yet again for 15 full rounds, with the judges having it 143-142 Paret, 143-142 Logart and 145-140 for the winner by Split Decision, Logart!

Cuba - Welterweights - Semi-Finals & Final

Semi-Finals:

Jose Napoles 2-1-0 (2) vs Isaac Logart 3-1-1 (1) - Logart spent 8 rounds trying to stay away from Napoles after being hurt early in the 1st round. Napoles simply kept stalking, patient, scoring seemingly at will until the 9th round where he finally landed the big right hand for the KO of Logart.

Kid Gavilan 5-1-0 (2) vs Luis Manuel Rodriguez 3-1-0 (1) - Gavilan pulled out a hard fought split decision last time these two greats met. In this one, Rodriguez and Gavilan split 4 tough rounds before Rodriguez asserted himself, running off a string of 6 straight rounds. He was up 98-92 on all three cards when a cut suffered in the 110th round reopened in the 11th, causing the doctor to halt the bout in favor of Gavilan by TKO.

Final:

Jose Napoles 3-1-0 (3) vs Kid Gavilan 6-1-0 (3) - The first meeting between the top two fighters in Cuban history. With Napoles stalking and Gavilan moving well, this fell into a dull routine early, with Gavilan cutting Napoles on the outside of the left eye in the 3rd round The cornerwork was excellent however, keeping Napoles in the bout. Gavilan built up a bit of a lead as Napoles protected the cut, but then in the 8th round, with the cut reopened and blood streaming freely, Napoles landed a huge shot and punished Gavilan the entire round, nearly having him out on his feet when the bell rang. Gavilan was back on the move in the 9th round focusing on the cut and reopening it yet again for the TKO on cuts. Gavilan improves to 7-1-0 (4) heading into his second World Tournament.

Cuba - Jr. Welterweights - Finals

We have two fighters for this division.

Final:

Angel Robinson Garcia 2-1-0 (1) vs Diosbelys Hurtado 0-1-0 (0) - Hurtado was disqualified in the first match, leaving the audience looking forward to the rematch. Garcia was on his toes throughout on this one with Hurtado stalking constantly and winning the early rounds as Garcia didn't do much. He finally woke up around the 5th and fought back, but he didn't have the punching power to seriously slow down Hurtado and this went the distance. The judges had it 145-139, 143-141 & 144-140 for the upset win by Hurtado who evens their series and earns his first WT berth.

Cuba - Lightweights - Round 1.

We have 16 fighters in this tourney so no byes needed.

Round 1:

Florentino Fernandez 3-1-0 (3) vs Pablo Cardenas 0-1-0 (0) - Fernandez earned a 1st round TKO last time they met. Cardenas lasted longer, but was clearly out matched, getting dropped in the 3rd then surviving a few more rounds before the referee stepped in and stopped it as Fernandez had him reeling on the ropes midway through the 8th. 8th round TKO for those scoring at home.

Orlando Zulueta 2-1-0 (1) vs Antonio Espino 0-1-0 (0) - Zulueta took some time to feel out Espino, but not much time, scoring the KO at the 0:50 mark of round 2.

Emory Cabana 5-1-0 (1) vs Alexis Garcia 0-1-0 (0) - One sided bout early as Cabana dominated with fast feet and faster hands. He tired a bit and became complacent after the 10th or so, but the decision was never in doubt as he took the 146-140 & 145-142 (x2) decision.

Damazo Collazo 2-1-0 (1) vs Rolando Garcia 0-1-0 (0) - Collazo scored a 4th round KO last time they met. Garcia lasted longer this time, but the results had Collazo comfortably ahead when the fight was stopped in the 11th for the TKO due to 2 knockdowns in the round and punishment afterwards.

Douglas Vaillant 1-1-0 (0) vs Angel Chapman Martinez 0-1-0 (0) - An easy decision for Vaillant in this one as he pulled out all the stops dropping Martinez 3 times along the way to earn the 148-135 (x2) 148-134 unanimous decision.

Baby Cochet 1-1-0 (1) vs Floro Hita 0-1-0 (0) - Simply put, a tactical affair that showed neither man could inflict much damage on the other, it was close, with the judges having it 144-141 Cochet, 143-142 for Hita and 145-140 for Cochet by split decision.

Richard Abril 1-1-0 (0) vs Alberto Bisbe 0-1-0 (0) - Once again, Bisbe went the distance against Abril, and once again Abril dominated, earning the 145-140, 146-139 & 144-141 decision.

Baby Diogenes Sagarra 1-1-0 (0) vs Bombom Oriental 0-1-0 (0) - Oriental suffered a 12th round KO last time out to Sagarra. Oriental was able to stay on his feet til the final bell in the 15th in what was a shockingly close 146-141, 144-143 and 143-142 decision for Sagarra.
