World Baseball Hierarchy - WBH

Want something a bit different in a fictional league? The World Baseball Hierarchy (WBH) is a long-running promotion/relegation league with a unique structure based on the 2006 World Baseball Classic. It's a promotion/relegation structure in a hierarchy; play in one of 7 country leagues, trying to fight your way to the top (winning the USA Championship). We've got 40+ seasons under our belt, and we expect to go for many years to come.

League Structure:

Tier 1: USA
Tier 2: Cuba & Japan (winner of each league is promoted to USA, with the better record choosing which division to move to in USA)
Tier 3: South Korea & Venezuela (winner of each division in these leagues moves up to Tier 2. South Korea --> Cuba and Venezuela --> Japan)
Tier 4: Canada & Dominican Republic (winner of each division in these leagues moves up to Tier 3. Canada --> South Korea and Dominican Republic --> Venezuela)

Relegation: bottom team in each division drops down 1 tier at the end of the season.

AVAILABLE TEAMS:

Sapporo Brewers (Venezuela) - Led by pitching, this team is 1 GB of the division lead, but their offense is #1 in the division as well. Average market, #2 farm system in Venezuela.

Suwon Samsung Lions (Canada) - Big lead in the division, strong pitching, better hitting. #1 farm system in Canada. Midsize market, but budget room aplenty.

Panama City Pirates (Cuba) - Strong pitching, offense needs some work. Currently 2nd place in division in 2nd tier. Plenty of budget room, and some nice prospects in the system.

Jeonju Jays (South Korea) - Big budget, leading division, no long term contracts. Strong pitching and hitting on this team, #1 farm system in Korea.

I'm entering my 39th season in this greatl league which has a great bunch of owners and a great commish. Grab a team quick before they all go, for a great OOTP experience.

IMHO, the WBH is one of the best, long running, well organized, large, stable leagues available. I was one of the earliest members, took a break, then happy to have been back for another 10 or so seasons!

Lot of fun. Very active members. Plenty of opportunity to interact with other human general managers in trades, free agency competition, and in the drafts.

Unique format allows the opportunity to climb or fall through several levels (or hierarchies) of leagues.

With 4-team divisions, one team is promoted to a higher league after each season, and one team relegated to a lower level in the hierarchy. This means there seems to always be something on the line. Either trying to win the championship or not lose and get relegated.

Competitive league for experienced OOTP players and plenty of room to grow comfortably as a newcomer to OOTP online leagues. I started at the bottom hierarchy, with a brand new team. It took I think something like 20 seasons to climb to the top hierarchy (USA), then got quickly relegated back down.

International flavor and other aspects help this league seem much different from standard real life MLB type leagues.
