What is auto-calc/re-calc?

I've been seeing on a lot of threads since OOTP 19 came out about how to use the auto-calc feature this year. I've been playing for a couple years and always go through multiple seasons, and I've never used it. Am I supposed to be? I always play the standard MLB world and not a fictional/historical league, so does that matter? Could someone please explain what exactly it does and its function?

Sorry for the multiple questions, but it seems like this button is important and I never touch it. Thank you!

It sets the overall statistical baselines for the league. How many K's, HR's. hits, walks etc. etc on a league-wide basis.

In general the game will take care of things and you shouldn't need to touch it. Some people really like to have a specific statistical environment though and then they'll end up micromanaging it. But if you're happy for the league to evolve through periods of more and less offense, then it's something you really don't need to worry much about.

Ah, I see. Thank you for explaining!
