Heartland Baseball League Looking for Three (Stats Only)

The Heartland Baseball League is a 16 team, semi-stats only, fictional league set in the Midwest. The league started in 1978 and we just finished the 2006 season. We play a balanced, interleague schedule(16/4) of 144 games beginning April 1 and ending in September. The top two teams in each league(North/South) complete in the playoffs for a shot at the Heartland Series. All major pitching and hitting ratings/potentials are hidden while the minor ones(fielding, speed, pitcher endurance) are available. Each team has three levels of minors and we boast a full feeder system of college and high school teams.

This league has been active since January 2013 and we still have several original owners. The commish does not run a team, just the league. We sim in the PM on Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday and we sim 1/3 of a month at a time making each regular season complete in about six weeks. We then sim the offseason one month at a time so that they move rather quickly as well. There is no arbitration so players are eligible for free agency after four seasons in the bigs and they become minor league free agents after spending four years in the minors. There is also a $5 million salary cap. We use OOTP16 with no immediate plans to move to 17.

Currently we are looking to fill three teams. For all interested, please PM me here on the OOTP boards.

The Cedar Rapids Rebels have been one of the better teams in the league for decades. But they have reached a crossroads. The roster is aging (though still good) and the prospect pool is barren. Do you keep pushing for one more title, tear it down and start a full rebuild, or try and reload without trading everyone away?

The Poplar Bluff Predators were once the toast of the South Division with 3 titles between 1992 and 1995, and 5 playoff appearances in a 7 year span. They have not been to the playoffs since 1998, but after an aggressive rebuild, they have put together back-to-back winning seasons and look to be on the cusp of another playoff run. They have one of the best young rotations in the game with a mix of good young hitters and great veterans. Can you be the one to put the final pieces in place?

The Dayton Dawgs have been a team that just can never quite put together enough wins to reach the playoffs. They have just one playoff appearance and even that was an uninspiring 74-70 season. They have been .500 or better in 4 of the last 8 years, but they have failed to finish above 3rd in the division and crack the post-season. They have some interesting young hitters on the roster, a 20 year old outfielder I'm really excited about, and one of the better pitching prospects in the league; but the big league pitching staff is a complete mess. There are a few free agents that could help out, but is it enough?

Davenport has a new GM, but it looks like our new CR GM is out before he began. So still looking for two GMs

South Bend was taken, but we still have an opening for one of the top teams in the league!
