Is a summary really needed here?

Grieve took advantage of a rare start and hit a solo home run in the second. Palmer bounced back to K Suarez to bring his strikeout total on the season to an even 100.

Powell led off the bottom of the second and tied the game with one swing.

Bosman struck out Etchebarren to begin the bottom of the third and record his 70th K on the season. But later in the frame, Grich gave Baltimore the lead with an RBI double. But then Grich was thrown out at home trying to score from second on a Johnson single.

After three: Baltimore 2 Texas 1.

Suarez tied the game in the fifth with an RBI double and then Bosman gave the Rangers the lead with a sacrifice fly RBI. Harrah added an RBI double of his own but then Lovitto was thrown out at home trying to score from first. In the end, it was a 3 run inning for Texas.

Johnson cut the Rangers lead in half with an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth and then Powell tied it with one of his own.

After six: Texas 4 Baltimore 4.

Baltimore committed two errors in the seventh and the Rangers loaded the bases with two out. But Nelson struck out to retire the side.

In the bottom of the seventh, it was almost deja vu as a three run homer broke the tie. This time it was off the bat of Powell.

Palmer struck out the side in the eighth.

Paul Lindblad replaced Bosman in the bottom of the eighth.

Grant Jackson came on in the ninth. The Rangers loaded the bases with two out but Nelson grounded out to end the game.

Final score: Baltimore 7 Texas 4.

On paper, at least, the Rangers have the better pitcher. But, can that be enough to overcome being on the short end almost everywhere else?

In the first inning, Baylor swiped his 30th base of the season and scored on a Johnson single. The play also saw Grich score on an error. Powell then singled but Johnson was thrown out at home trying to score from second. That has happened a lot this series. The next batter was Robinson and he hit a 2 run homer to reach 40 RBI on the season. The final tally in the first was 4 runs, 5 hits and 2 errors.

Maddox left the game with an injury in the third inning.

After three: Baltimore 4 Texas 0.

Harrah put Texas on the board in the sixth with a solo home run.

After six: Baltimore 4 Texas 1.

Mike Paul pitched the eighth for Texas.

In the ninth, Howard got an RBI double but it wasn't enough as the Orioles completed the sweep.

The Rangers almost scored in the third but Kubiak was thrown out at home trying to score from second after a Nelson single.

Michael put Detroit on the board with an RBI single in the fourth. Stanley then scored on a passed ball.

Texas loaded the bases with one out in the sixth. Billings then brought in a run with an RBI single but Biittner was thrown out at home trying to score from second.

The Tigers loaded the bases with nobody out in the bottom of the sixth. Brinkman then brought home a run with a sac fly. Hand walked in another run and was replaced by Jim Panther and he got the final out.

After six: Detroit 4 Texas 1.

Horton singled to lead off the bottom of the seventh and run his hit streak to 11 games.

Paul Lindblad pitched the eighth for Texas.

Chris Zachary pitched the ninth for the Tigers. A wild pitch led to a Rangers run and then Harrah added an RBI single but Zachary ended the game by striking out Howard to record his 30th K of the season. The Rangers lost despite out-hitting Detroit 13-5

Rodriguez was hurt running the bases in the bottom of the first and had to leave the game. This was on a Horton single that extended his hit streak to 12 games. McAuliffe picked up the RBI with a two out single.

The Tigers loaded the bases with two out in the second but Horton grounded out to end the inning.

Harris tied the ball game with a groundout RBI in the top of the third.

With runners at first and second and two out in the top of the fourth, Detroit went to the bullpen and brought on Lerrin LaGrow. Lovitto then singled to load the bases but Stanhouse stuck out to retire the side.

Burroughs gave Texas the lead in the fifth with an RBI single. But McAuliffe tied it in the bottom of the fifth with a solo home run, his 10th of the season.

With a runner on first and one out in the top of the sixth, the new Detroit pitcher would be Fred Holdsworth. And he would be out of the frame with the score still tied.

Paul Lindblad took the mound for Texas in the bottom of the sixth. Dalton Jones broke the tie by beating out a would-be double play groundball to bring home a run.

Chuck Seelbach took the mound for the Tigers in the eighth. In the ninth, he struck out Harrah to record his 40th K of the season on his way to recording the save.

Howard got the Rangers going with an RBI double in the first.

Texas loaded the bases with two out in the second. Biittner then drew a walk to bring in a run. Howard followed up with a 2 run single but Kubiak was injured sliding in at home and had to leave the game. Lovitto also drew a bases loaded walk to bring in another run as the Rangers put 4 up in the frame.

Texas loaded the bases with two out in the third as well but this time Howard flew out to retire the side.

The fourth inning became the third inning in a row the Rangers would load the bases with two out but Cain struck out Broberg to retire the side.

In the top of the fifth, Cain walked Biittner to set a Tigers record with 9 free passes in a regular season game. So, he was replaced by Joe Niekro with a runner on first and one out. Billings then added to the Texas lead with a two run homer.

Jim Mason got his first RBI of the season with a run scoring single in the sixth. It had been that kind of day for the Rangers.

After six: Texas 8 Detroit 0.

Northrup made sure the Tigers did not get shut out as he delivered an RBI single in the seventh. Rodriguez tried to add a second run but Brinkman was thrown out at home trying to score from second.

Fred Holdsworth took the mound for Detroit in the eighth.

In the bottom of the eighth, Stanley brought in a run with a sac fly.

With one out in the ninth, Chris Zachary took the mound for Detroit.

With runners at first and second and one out, Horacio Pina replaced Broberg. Cash then singled to load the bases. An error brought in two runs and a walk loaded the bases again. Stanley added an RBI single before the final two outs were made to end the game.

Ah, the miserable Cleveland Indians. Texas will host Cleveland for 4 games beginning tonight. The Indians have lost 11 in a row. If you doubled Cleveland's win total, the Indians would still be 10 games below .500.

A trade rumor has 1B Tommy Davis allegedly leaving the Cubs.

An actual trade has taken place. The Dodgers have sent C Joe Ferguson to Cleveland in exchange for SP Ray Lamb and SS Jack Heidemann.

Burroughs tied the game in the bottom of the first with an RBI single of his own.

Lowenstein put Cleveland back on top in the second with an RBI single.

In the bottom of the fifth, Harrah got a sac fly RBI to cut the Indians lead back down to 1. The Rangers then tied it when Lovitto scored on a throwing error by Nettles.

Gogolewski struck out Unser to begin the top of the 6th to run his K total to 80. But Lowenstein would come through with an RBI double later in the frame to give Cleveland the lead once again and bring his RBI total on the season to 20.

Tom Hilgendorf became the new Cleveland pitcher in the eighth inning. With a man on first and two out, Bill F Butler replaced Hilgendorf and got the final out to end the inning.

Jim Panther took over pitching duties for Texas in the 9th. Panther ended the frame by striking out Fosse to record his first K of the season.

But, the Indians held on to end their 12 game losing streak.
