I read today that Floyd will probably use his father to train him for his return on May 4th. Speculation is Roger's health is the issue. It makes sense in my Uni that Floyd might want a new trainer since he was only able to get a draw vs. Manny back in Dec.

Lovemore N'dou's power proved too much for the spirited challenge of Gavin Rees as N'dou knocked Rees out with an uppercut in the 13th round in defense of his WBC 140lb belt.

Early on, the fact that Rees was 9 years younger looked like it would carry the day as Gavin's hand speed appeared to be too much for the old champ to handle. But as the rounds wore on, N'dou's superior power paid off as he forced the tiring Rees to exchange more - dropping Gavin twice before ending the fight in the 13th.

N'dou was up 311 to 281 in PL & on all 3 cards: 115-111, 115-110 & 114-111.

N'dou moves to 19-2 & Rees is now 9-2.

Adrien Broner's 2nd fight @ 135 was another impressive one with a 12th round right cross KO of the previously unbeaten John Molina.

Molina was making the 1st defense of his IBO LW belt but was in over his head with the fast & powerful Broner. Molina hit the deck 4 other times before the 5th & final time in the 12th.

Broner lead on all 3 cards: 107-100, 107-101 & 106-101.

Adrien out punched the game champion 417-142 & had a 40% to 10% connect advantage as well.

Juan Manuel Marquez's decision to turn down a fight @ 147 in Dec vs. 6 Heads Lewis turned out to be a wise one as he opted to face Zab Judah @ 140 for Zab's IBF belt in late Feb. Juan controlled the action for most of the fight & dropped Zab in the 14th with a right uppercut to cement his victory winning on all 3 cards: 146-137 twice & 144-139. Juan out punched Zab, 455 to 316 & now is 4-0 @ 140.

Zab slips to 26-5-1 @ JWW.

Juan Diaz's bid for an 11th defense of his WBA LW belt came up short when a cut that opened in the 14th caused the ref to stop the fight in the 15th. As a result, Sharif Bogere wins the WBA title.

Diaz was in complete control of the fight, up 441-267 in PL & on all 3 cards: 136-129, 135-130 & 135-129. Diaz also dropped Bogere 3 times in the bout. Diaz lost his 1st fight & now stands @ 19-1.

Timothy Bradley took his show on the road to the Rose Garden in Portland, Oregon to face the usually durable Greg Haugen. Greg came in looking out of shape & paid the price as Tim took the fight to Greg in the 4th round by dropping the challenger 3 times on way to an easy TKO win.

Tim made his 8th title defense of his WBO JWW crown & moves to 11-0.

Selcuk Aydin made short work of Thomas Dulorme with a 1 punch KO to defend his WBO WW belt for the 2nd time.

They traded crosses, Thomas landed with a left cross & Aydin's right cross ended matters @ 1:06 of the 1st round.

Aydin is now 9-0, 9 KO's.

In what was expected to be a good, tough fight turned out to be anything but as WBA MW champ Craig McEwan defended his belt for the 1st time in Scotland with a 1st round KO of Aussie big mouth, Anthony Mundine.

Mundine promised to make it a "Bad Friday" for all of Scotland but Craig ended matters early. Craig remains unbeaten with a 14-0-1 record & it was Mundine's 1st loss @ 160 as he falls to 10-1 with 9 KO's.

Mundine hoped to drop down to 154 in May to challenge Miguel Cotto for his WBA belt.

WBA JWW champ Mike Arnaoutis decided to go for broke in the 8th round & dropped Nate Campbell twice with right hooks which turned out to be the correct decision as Mike stopped the game challenger @ 2:28 of the 8th.

Nate's power seemed to bother the champ as he controlled the fight: 70-64, 68-65 & 67-66 on all 3 cards.

The win was Mike's 4th defense of his belt & upped his record to 17-2-1. Mike's only losses coming in title fights by SD to both Amir Khan & Kendall Holt.

Nate drops to 2-1 @ 140.

Mike Alvarado made his 1st IBO JWW defense via a 12th round TKO of the tough Tim Coleman. Tim easily won the 1st 3 rounds with slick boxing skills & even dropped Mike with a uppercut for a flash KD in the 9th. Mike dropped the game challenger though twice after that stopping Tim @ 1:56 of the 12th.

It was Tim's 1st loss & 2nd title shot. He had a draw with WBA JWW champ, Mike Arnaoutis, last summer. Alvarado lead 262-234 in PL & was ahead on all 3 cards: 104-102 twice & 105-101 @ the time of the stoppage.

IBO JMW champ Travis Simms made a quick stop/defense in Australia via a 1st round KO of local hero - Daniel Dawson.

It was Simms' 5th title defense & he moved his record to 17-2-2.

Some thought Manny might suffer an emotional letdown after his big fight/draw with Floyd Mayweather last Dec & that's exactly what happened. Fighting in front of his countrymen in the Phillipines, Pacquaio came up a little short in a tough back & forth bout with Sechew Powell losing a 15 SD 144-142, 143-142 & 143-144 - for Manny.

Powell out punched Manny 319-306 & landed 35% of his punches to Manny's 34% in razor thin fight. It was Powell's 2nd title shot - he was KO'd in the 15th in another tough/close fight a couple years ago by then IBO JMW champ - Fernando Vargas.

Manny drops to 4-1-1 @ 154 & Powell improves to 19-2 by winning the WBO JMW strap.

Guillermo Rigondeaux took a trip to Japan to defend his WBA JFW belt for the 3rd time with a dominating 15 UD over the previously unbeaten Toshiaki Nishioka. Tosh controlled the 1st 2 rounds until Rigo took over from that point on dropping the game challenger 3 times over 15 en route to a clear cut decision: 147-136 twice & 147-137. The champ was up 270 (29%) to 226 (17%) in PL as well.

Rigo ups his record to 11-0 with 1 KO.

Lovemore N'dou's 2nd road trip title defense didn't work out quite as well for the now ex WBC JWW champ. N'dou traveled to Russia to face the fearsome Ruslan Provodnikov (10-0, 10 KO's) & came up short losing a 15UD: 144-142, 144-143, 146-143. The younger Russian was more accurate: 35% to 21% & out landed N'dou 401 to 344.

N'dou's record now stands @ 19-3 & Ruslan is 11-0, the 1st time he wasn't able to end the fight before the final bell.

Gevor survives in Germany!

WBO MW champ appeared to get some home cooking in his 1st defense of his title. Fernando Guerrero looked to be in control most of the fight, out punching Gevor 338 to 276 but 2 of the 3 judges saw it differently handing Gevor the close SD win: 144-143, 143-142 & 141-144. Gevor's right eye was even swollen red as proof of the damage Fernando inflicted over the 15 rounds. Khoren came into the fight looking pudgy but escapes with the win.

Maybe it was strange combo of the fight being in Germany & talk of Gevor taking a shot @ a SMW belt later this summer.

Gevor stays unbeaten @ 15-0-1 & Fernando slips to 14-3.

How realistic is this sim?

Marco Huck was making the 1st defense of his WBO HW belt he won by decision over Audley Harrison last July. Steve Cunningham was chosen for what was hoped would be an easy defense while Huck waited for a title shot @ CW. Steve had other plans & while Huck was in control, a hook dropped the champ in the 10th & shortly after that, another hook from Steve ended matters @ 2:01 of the 10th. Huck was up 87-83 on 2 cards & 1 had it tied @ 86.

So in real Steve beat Huck via a 12th round TKO, in the sim @ HW, Steve won by 10th round KO.

Why I love this game, it's true to life in most cases, but at the same time we get enough upsets and shockers to keep us on the edge of our seats!

Exactly, going in you have a feeling about who should win - especially if 1 fighter is a huge underdog & maybe 9 of 10 times it happens as expected but every once in a while, you have the huge upsets. Even if fights go as expected, how the final outcome is achieved is also interesting.

Denmark's Thomas Damgaard made the 8th defense of his WBC WW title via a dominating 15 UD over the tough but over-matched, Carson Jones. Thomas won easily on all 3 cards: 149-134, 146-137 & 147-136, dropping Jones 3 times over the 15 round fight.

Thomas improves to 15-1-1 (13 KO's) @ 147 & looks to return in the Fall.

Spain's Roberto Santos traveled to Venezuela to take the IBO MW belt from Jorge Navarro with an impressive, 1 punch right cross 8th round KO. Santos had dropped Jorge 2 times earlier in the fight & was ahead 68-63 on all 3 cards.
