Training Screen in '19

Hello everybody. I'm new to OOTP. Just bought OOTP 19 and I've been reading about past versions having a player training screen with checkable boxes to set the training.

I have been through the screens and the manual for '19 and I can't find anywhere to set training for the players. Is there no training screen in this version? Am I just missing it?

Thanks for your help. Great game, BTW.

------ EDIT -----

I just remembered, I started a brand new season and I think the date was the first week of March, but there were no games on the schedule. No Spring Training at all. Was there supposed to be a Spring Training? Or does that not happen until the second time through?

Thanks!

Yeah, the MLB quickstart starts at the end of March so no spring training. After you play out 2018 you will have a spring training prior to the 2019 regular season. If you're playing fictional then those leagues always start in January so you would have spring training in the initial season for that.

There will be Spring Training for you after the initial season of the quickstart but I think what the OP may be asking about is something that went away a long time ago. There used to be a screen where you could actually have each player (I think it was by player) focus on training certain skills. I don't remember all the details.

If that is what you are asking about @rassy7 then sorry but that is no longer a function in the game. Best you can do now as far as focusing training on a specific skill is to teach players new positions (if they have the proper skills). You can do this during the season of during spring training (I believe they learn faster here) by playing them at the position you want them to learn. Everything else is handled by the development engine.

Thanks, yes, I was actually asking about both. Glad to know I didn't mess up the Spring Training bit. Bummed about the absent player training feature.

Is there any way to help guide how a player develops? For instance, if I'd like a certain player to focus more on speed or hitting rather than defense. Can I influence that in any way?

Ok, thanks. Well I guess I won't worry about that any more. I'll just let them grow up on their own.

I don't generally use the coaching system so I'm not positive about exactly what it can help with but I do know that you can hire, for example, a pitching coach who focuses on power pitchers or groundballers, etc. Same goes for other coaches. Not 100% sure this helps develop those skills or those coaches are just better with that type of player. But that is an area you might want to look into. What ever it does will likely be quite subtle.

Ok, that's sort of what I was guessing and that makes sense if it actually works that way. I'll dig into the personnel options and see what that might affect.

Thanks again.
