Can someone explain the stealing mechanic in this game?
*I accicdentally posted this in the OOTP 20 forum by mistake so re-posting here*
What is up with the stealing mechanic in this game? Player on 1st has pretty good speed and excellent stealing. I want him to steal. I tell him to steal. But what does he do? He starts to steal, but then runs back to first. I tell him again. STEAL. FOR GODS SAKE MAN, STEAL. But what does he do? He starts to run, then runs back again. By now, the other team is onto me obviously wanting to steal, so I just give up and take swings. Is this for real? What kind of mechanic is this exactly? I want the player to steal, not run back n forth acting like a bozo among the freakin' bases. |

In short it means he didn't get a good jump.
Besides force steal there is also "run and hit". One other thing, not sure how you are playing? One pitch or pitch by pitch? I play one pitch but when I'm in a situation where I want to steal I go to P by P and try to work the count. |
