Which Jim Bagby?
Senior and Junior were both successful ML pitchers.

In an early season move, the GM of Waffletown made a couple of moves to try and bolster the pitching staff and hopefully shake the club from its back-n-forth .500 play style.
Joining the squad: -Boom-Boom Beck (82) - 1945 https://sabr.org/bioproj/person/b831fa63 |

Just past the halfway mark of their inaugural season, Waffletown finds themselves mired in the second division with a record of 41-49 and 4.5 games back of the promotion cutoff to move out of Rookie level.
"Can't say I'd be disappointed in another season at this level. If we're struggling to hit 500 here, imagine the beating we'd take one level higher?" said center fielder Baby Doll Jacobson. Management has tried to temper the expectations of fans to not expect a championship calibre team so soon, and to be patient as they try to improve their talent. With available funds scarce, new additions will be few and far between (barring the unexpected scouting find); so these initial seasons will showcase many current players out of their normal positions (as they train up to be more versatile). |

With the post season out of reach and any hope of promotion to the next tier nothing more than a hope for next season, the GM of Waffletown made a late season move to acquire two new players for next year. Joining the squad:
3B - Heinie Groh (88) - 1919 Larry Kopf will be sent to the reserves to make room. Groh will begin training around the infield to increase his versatility for the team; and will bring his famous bottle bat into the 6th slot in the batting order. https://sabr.org/bioproj/person/b90e80de |

and...
SS - Buck Herzog (80) - 1914 Sam Bohne will be sent to the reserves to make room. Herzog will begin the same training regimen as Groh and increase his defensive versatility around the infield; and take over the leadoff role in the batting order. https://sabr.org/bioproj/person/4d0cbe1b |

When their inaugural season began, management did their best to keep expectations reasonable and prevent fans from believing this squad would compete for a division title, much less a championship. When the dust settled, management's expectations were basically on the mark.
Waffletown finished an up-n-down season with a record of 78-84, good enough for 3rd place in the division, 10 games back of the lead. They also finished 3 games back of the final promotion spot, so Waffletown will spend at least one more season at the Rookie tier. "I can't say I'm disappointed to remain at this level." said center fielder, Baby Doll Jacobson. "We could use the extra time to all get on the same page." Jacobson led the team in home runs with 33, but struggled otherwise at the plate with a .228 average. |

As the Syrups struggle along in their second season at the Rookie tier, the GM of Waffletown made a move with their meager funds to bring aboard a new starting pitcher. Joining the squad:
SP - Bob Muncrief (84) - 1944 Charlie Root will be sent to the reserves to make room. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Muncrief |
