Running OOTP on a Surface Laptop
Hello all. Haven't been in here in a long while.
Just bought a Surface Laptop and wondered if anyone has played OOTP 19 on it. Wondered how the fonts looked and if the touchscreen worked well on selecting and dragging players, etc. |

I have ran ootp on 3 surface pros and 1 currently I am using the 15 inch surface book 2 with performance dock.
OOTP was one of the main reasons I liked having a surface, mostly due to the pen. The accuracy is amazing. Performance wise everything works great. No issues at all. There is only two negatives to using a surface product and OOTP. 1. The on screen keyboard doesn't pop up if you need to type something in OOTP. So that means you have to manually open it when you need it. A quick fix for this may be to make the button on the surface pen bring up the keyboard on click. I haven't tried it yet but may be possible. 2. Now this negative is to me close to a make or break on the surface. When I had OOTP on the surface pro 2, I was able to use the pen's right click feature in OOTP. Over the last 2 versions though, this right click feature doesn't work on OOTP anymore. This is huge as right clicking can save you a lot of time in game. I don't know why this has happened but it is something that really turns me off from using my surface pen in ootp. |

As someone who currently uses a Surface 3 to play OOTP when I'm not at my home computer, I can say that OOTP works pretty well on a Surface. You will want an SD card however or a flash drive to keep your saves on, if you keep everything like I do or play on multiple computers. One of the biggest issues I have is that my surface 3 does not play nice with the real player models but I use detailed pawns on it without issue. The touch screen keyboard button I keep on my taskbar for when I need to type in OOTP so it isn't a big deal for me. I don't have the pen anymore so I just long press when I need to right click and it works well enough for me.

I don't have a surface go just the surface book, but OOTP will play on it. It will sim very slow though so you would have to change a lot of settings in OOTP to make it run at a good speed.

The Go uses Windows 10 in S mode. That limits it to software off the Windows Store which I don't think OOTP is on. However, you can do a one time conversion to Windows 10 Home from inside the OS itself. From looking at the hardware it should be able to handle OOTP pretty well. The Intel Gold CPU is an updated Intel Atom. Facegen would be slow and 3D mode might also be slow but if you made concessions and had smaller leagues it should run well. To answer the OP, I have a surface Pro 4 and while the game runs really well on it, I don't like running OOTP on it. OOTP looks terrible on high DPI monitors since the UI does not scale all that well. Other games are working in UI scaling for high DPI monitors and I have asked the last three years if this would be included in OOTP and they have yet to implement it. Both Football manager and Motorsport Manager both have UI scaling as do several other games with UI's Both of those would be unplayable on my Surface Pro and laptop without it. |
