Now My Game Won't Work

Out of the blue my game has stopped working. I get a Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error-----abnormal termination. I can play a day and when it goes to the next day boom...shutdown. I tried different leagues. I reinstalled the game. Any ideas on what I can do?

What did you delete on your computer recently and/or what new software or hardware? Also, did you delete the league that was the last league used by the game?

Have you run any spyware or adware detecting software? Go to your control panel and see if the LicCtrl service is running.....oftentimes these programs will close this.

if you are using XP have you tried going back to a restore point ? It sounds like it is a DLL conflict or some such thing

I tried restore although I keep getting a cannot complete restore message. I removed the mp3 program then once again unlicensed, uninstalled and re-installed. Once again, no luck.

Did any of your other programs fail to work as well Kingpin, or just OOTP?

Thomamon has been very helpful in trying to get me going but we have failed so far. I have unlicensed and unistalled again for the 3rd time, ran a registry repair and defrag, refragged the entire computer (for the second time), reinstalled and........... got the following error message: The instruction at "0x6bc050f3" referenced memory at "0x028b0014". The memory could not be "read". Click on Ok to terminate the program
This was the exact message, any help out there?

My problems started when the game began crashing to the desktop when I was advancing from 1 season to the next http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...threadid=63941(see desktop crash thread). That was a pain in the butt but not a game ender. I might have to try 10-12 times to get past the generating reports section to the next season but at least I could play the game. I can let the past few days slide without any response because of the convention. Hopefully I will get some help this week now that the convention is over.

The only games that failed were all elicensed games. And they had no help with the patch they sent me. So luckily I had an entire day to backup my important info etc. and do a clean wipe of my HD.

And all of my other e-licensed games work fine. OOTP is the only problem I have. OOTP5 and OOTP6 both don't work now. Everything else runs fine.

It is amazing what a "Don't know exactly what the problem may be, but i'll see if I can find out" would do. I know there are other problems out there but I don't see too many with a game (make that 2 games since OOTP5 won't work now either) that won't run at all. Unanswered PM's and an occasional 1 line question that is not acknowledged when answered don't do alot to help. As far as I know (please correct me if I am wrong) this forum is the only place to get help. I can't assume that someone is looking into it because I just don't know that is the case. You know what they say about the word assume-- to assume is to make an ass of u and me. Don't really want to come of as an a**hole but I got a game that will not work and the only person who has really tried to help me has nothing to do with the "Company". Many thanks to Thomamon who did all he knew to help me. Like my first statement said true knowledge of being helped would go a long ways. I've been around since OOTP 99 and have loved the game and bought it as soon as it came out and even with the bugs would probably do so again, IF this version will ever work again.

Another day gone and no attempts at help or at least no acknowledgement of attempts to help. Oh well, I guess there is always tomorrow.

I forwarded both links to Markus, I have no idea what the outcome will be but I certainly don't know what the problem is.
