Help...OOTP6 keeps crashing on me!

I've started my career and I've tried 3 times to play a game and everytime I get an error message and must close the game.

Here's the error message:

OOTP6 caused an invalid page fault in
module OOTP6.EXE at 018f:004a62a2.

This is very frustrating since I have had every version of OOTP since version 2 and I have never had a problem with the game crashing. There's nothing in particular that triggers it, it has happened at various times during my three games. Any ideas?

it crashed on me twice at 800x600 then I switched it back to 1028x740 or whatever and it works fine.... I forgot why I had it at 800x600 in the first place... but maybe itll help you to switch screen resolutions.

If that doesn't work, try turning the sound off. That is what I have to do for whatever reason.

my game would crash if I changed the sound settings during a game but not if i did it brfore or after.

Also my imported league works fine but when I try to create a new league (i used cardinal rosters) it crashes while loading. I think the files from the roster set might be from OOTP5 but not sure.

I actually had the resolution at 1024 x 768, but I normally keep my desktop at 800 x 600. Is there any way to play the game in 800 x 600 without it being blurry?

So it appears that turning the sound off keeps it from crashing? Bummer, I love the crack of the bat and the organ music and umpire sounds. I hope there's a fix for this pretty quick.

Does it crash on you with the sound off?

The game is designed to played at 1024x768, "some" people can run the game at other resolutions but it is a case by case basis.

The sound issue is probably more of a driver issue than a software one. The sound has not changed from OOTP5 in this regard to my knowledge.

Any ideas on the crashing problem? There seems to be quite a few people experiencing it.

I was able to get into the game, but now, the first thing I did was try to make a trade and as soon as I click on the player to deal it automatically shuts down.

Windows 98
21.3 Gb free space
384 Mb of ram
Direct X9b
Sound is disabled (whiched helped get the game loaded, but now won't allow me to make a trade)
Direct 3d is enabled

what other info do you need.

Thanks

I have the same two problems. Whenever I try to give a command in a game (ie. Swing away) the game crashes, and whenever I click on a player on the trade menu it crashes.

Info:

Windows ME

Intel Pentium 4

256 MB RAM

62 GB free

I'm pretty sure I have all drivers installed and everything, and I am at the screen resolution that was recommended.

I downloaded the newest DirectX to make sure I had it. I'm still having the same problem with it crashing. I have all sound options in the game turned off.

At this point all I can do is make recommendations and suggestions:

-Turn OFF menu animations(game setup or config)
-Close all other programs and virus scanning software.
-Try adjusting color depth(not sure here just trying to brainstorm).
-Toggle the browser the game uses to open HTML files.(game setup or config)

Thanks, Steve. None of that worked, however, just so you guys know. Let us know when there's a fix.

Ok, I think I have a fix for this. I had just clicked continue league. When I clicked create new career season, and started a new league, everything is working fine. Hope this helps some...So, in other words, it seems the problem is with the league that comes with the game. If you create your own version it's fine, at least on mine..so far.

Maybe it's not a fix after all. It helped me in one league, but I can't load my league now. It's getting to the end of loading and just freezing. I'm also finding that when the game crashes, it will not start up again unless I re-start, and since it seems to crash every few minutes, I'm about ready to give up for the night. Off to re-start again.
