I'll give in and re-install, and see if that changes things.

I'll post my findings in a moment.

Thanks for your attention on this matter. We're so pleased you resolved one issue with scouts and ratings! We were afraid we only had one season left before we were outta luck!

Now, if we could just GET to the end of the season!

Ok, I tried this time simming in various increments, alternating between "day, week and month" and had no problems whatsoever.

I guess there's no other recourse:

Steve Kuffrey, you are the new commissioner of the eMLB!

Sorry LB.

Ok, seriously, my FTP transfer didn't go through the first time...in three minutes, it should be set. This is the file where the crash took place.

Yessir. This is where the game crashed. And there's something much different than what I've seen in other files, although not by much.

The stats for June, and maybe part of May, are missing. One thing I noticed, when the file was in the process of crashing, was that Ed Yost on the Phillies was second in the league with 23 stolen bases. The NL leader now has 20.

Generally, when I crashed, I would lose the entire season of files, save for one or two games. This is the first time where a good portion of the file was saved. I know Kevin and LB had similar problems, but their files ended up like this. So, this isn't as extreme as the problem I normally have.

Steve,

I uninstalled and re-installed. Here's what happened:

Crashed on 5/2.

Also, when I chose to sim season, this was the first time it asked to stop before playoffs.

I did have computer manager on.

I do have a brand new Dell barely a month old. Dimension 8300 with XP and 2.8 Ghz and over a Gig of RAM and Gigs and Gigs of HD space.

I just don't get it, I picked up right exactly where you were and have simmed a couple of weeks w/o any problems. I made no changes to the file.

I'm able to pick up too...however, there are stats lost. That's my point with that. I just can't pinpoint where the problems are.

Ok, with the stats lost I reset the season and now I'm trying to sim the season out again a bit at a time, all human owned teams.

Ok, here's something to look at:

Look at the league leaders in the error file I've posted. The average leaders only show 3 people in there.

If you look at the short leaders (on the standings screen), you'll only see one AL leader in ERA, and nobody on the NL side.

If you'll look at the Phillies roster, and check out Ed Yost or Alex Cabrera's game-by-game and monthly stats, neither one of them have stats past 4/29. This is impossible, given that Yost had 23 steals at the time of the crashing.

This is some of the stuff I'm talking about with the crash. It makes it impossible to pick up with the simming, because most of the stats are wiped.

Any suggestions on that end? Please respond at your earliest convenience. You've dealt with our three-headed monster too much tonight.

Well, I understand what you are saying but what I am trying to do is just to get it to crash on me here and it isn't. I can understand that with the crashes stats are being lost, but trying to go deeper.

Right. I posted this as you posted the other one, so I didn't see it. I was just pointing out more things.

I'll just shush now.

Steve,

SUCCESS! On my 2nd try after reinstalling, I was able to make it through an entire season of simming. I don't know if it matters, but I did not have AOL Instant Messenger on at the time I ran it. Most other times, I did, to communicate with the others in this thread.

However, batting average wise, I'm not even hitting .100 in getting to the end.

Thanks,

LB

I'm not sure about AIM but some programs are memory hogs and at times can impact game performance, glad it worked for you.

Unfortunately, I wasn't running AIM when I got that crash. I crashed once more, in mid-April.

Unfortunately, I don't know what else to do.

Unhappy Still crashing after following instructions

Steve,

I'm still having crash problems over here. After our original posts on Sunday, I have been able to get 3 complete seasons done. But my 4 attempts this morning to sim 1 season have all crashed, and so did 3 attempts last night to sim 5 years of the league.

The farthest I got on any test was 6/25. It just stops, doesn't go any farther, uses tremendous amounts of CPU Usage (In the 60% range to be exact), and needs to be shut down.

I've tried everything you suggested. Uninstalled, reinstalled. Run via Computer Manager. I even try at times with Trading Off or Injuries Off.

This is very frustrating, as my attempts are to look ahead and see how the league looks stat wise for the league and for players to make sure we adjusted for their younger ages, etc. We can't do it now.

Despite your efforts of saying you can't crash the program Sunday evening, we are having no problems whatsoever in doing so ourselves, and feel we may have to either start over or scrap this project.

The latest version of the file can be found at:

http://www.emlb-baseball.com/emlb6.lg.zip

If you have an opportunity to look at this, please see what you can find out.

Side Note: I originally thought AOL Instant Messenger might be hindering its performance, but all my latest attempts are without it. So I have no explanation why I've been able to get 3 successful sim by seasons in, but a dozen crashes. I'm the Bob Uecker of sim testing!

Only other program I know I have running is Norton AV 2003.

Reminder of my computer specs:

2.8 Ghz Pentium 4
1 GB RAM
128 MB ATI Radeon DDR 9800 Video Card
Windows XP
Over 100 GB Hard Drive Space available

Can you make anything out of this? I sure can't!

Thanks!

Try turning Norton off while simming, others have atleast had speed issues when running it and see what that does. I'll d/l the newest file soon and give it a try.

An update

Hey Steve,

Thanks again for your fast response!

Here's how things went turning Norton's off.

First off, things went MUCH faster than before!

Alas, I still have the same issue. 3 attempts:

#1 crashed on 6/25

#2 crashed on 4/9

#3 completed the whole season.

Okay, so I got to my 4th completed season, and I will leave my computer on now and let it sim the next 7 seasons to see how things look in the league. However, I'm going to work, so I'm hoping that the program works just fine unattended.

I still don't have any idea why I'm crashing and why there will be times it will get through everything!

Thanks!

Steve,

Just got home from work, and that third attempt at simming through a season did work, so I left for work letting the sim try to make it through 7 seasons after that one. It got through 2 1/2 seasons before crashing on 6/1/2009.

I don't know if you've had the opportunity to try to play/tinker with this file, but it's still more prone to crashing than actually running what we request.

Thanks,
