Top of the Fourth:

With 2 outs, Larry McNeil draws a 4 pitch walk. A passed ball by C Craig Petitto sends him to 2nd. I have had it with Petitto... We need to get someone in here via trade.... Even if I have to trade Glenn Snowden for a .260 hitting catcher with a .640 OPS.... Not really, but we got to get someone, even if he is slow as molasses... Steve Hermanson hits a fly ball to right and Don Neumann just plain drops it for a 2 base error and McNeil scores... 1 to 0, Brewers.

Top of the Sixth:

Greg Hobbs singles to right center. Fernando Martinez grounds a double play ball to 2nd, but Shannon Kuchta makes an error on his throw to 2nd... The Bullpen is up. But the next three make outs!

Bottom of the Sixth:
With 1 out, Melvin Rodarte beats out an infield hit to extend his hitting streak to 20 games. Scott Plourde beats on an infield hit! 2 for 24 now! (.083). With 2 outs, Glenn Snowden doubles to right center and both runners score, but Snowden gets thrown out trying to take 3rd. 2 to 1, Beavers!

Bottom of the Eighth:

Melvin Rodarte reaches when SS Greg Hobbs boots his ground ball. He steals 2nd and ends up on 3rd when C Larry McNeil throws the ball into center. Scott Plourde draws a walk. Fernando Mexicano grounds a hit to left and Rodarte scores! 3 to 1, Beavers! The next three go down, though.

Won - 3 to 1

Trade #15:
SP Duane Howard (29-R) to New York for minor League C Tom Johnson (31-R)

Howard is walking more than he strikes out in A Ball. Johnson has hit well in A Ball and plays good defense, though he is slow as molasses.

Trade #16:
Minor league 2B Bill Howe (25-R) to Boston for C Russ Albright (29-L).

Howe is hitting .297/.397/.366 for Vancouver (A), though his defense has not been very good. Albright is hitting .320/.370/.460 in 50 AB as Boston's backup catcher and he is very good on defense and is even slower than molasses...

Trade #17:
Minor league C Glenn Oswell (33-R) to Atlanta for minor league SP Chuck Purnell (25-R)

Trade #18:
Minor league C Dan Leonard (28-R) to Cincinnati for minor league SP Steve Bacha (27-R)

Oswell and Leonard are both slackers and not needed anymore. Neither Purnell or Bacha seem to be worth much of anything...

Albright and Petitto will platoon at catcher. Johnson will go to Vancouver (A) as insurance. Petitto is actually hitting well against lefties. (.343 - 12 for 35).

C Jim Shippy (30-R) has been sent to Vancouver (A).

Milwaukee Brewers (25-36 .410 11.5 GB in 7th place in the PCL East) at
Portland Beavers (26-34 .433 14.5 GB in 8th (last) place in the PCL West)

MIL: Larry Wicke (30-R 1-8 6.23) vs. POR: Dick Register (27-L 0-0 3.05) Rookie

Wicke pitched a CG, allowing only 2 runs on 6 hits in his first start for a win. Since then, he is 0-8 in 11 starts with a 6.91 ERA. 11 HR and 36 BB in 65 IP on the season.

Register will be making his 1st Major League start.
