Is there a demo I can try?
I got to see a friend play some of the previous games and I think I would really enjoy playing these games, but I don't want to buy one until I can play around with it myself. So, is there any way I can play a demo version of this game (or an older version of this game at least)? Thanks in advance.

OOTP5 and OOTP8 are free full versions that you can download from the page eriq jaffe linked you to. I would go for 8, so you can get a basic idea of the game. Just keep in mind, there's been a sea change in the game since 2007 (when OOTP8 came out).

At least OOTP8 bears a superficial resemblance to the current game. OOTP5 is veeeeery different.

Go to the page eriq jaffe linked you to and scroll through the links to the link to ootp8freesetup.exe. Click on it and off you go, you've got yourself a free full version of OOTP to try out with no limits on how much you can play it. Things have changed quite a bit since those days, but the basic fundamentals are still the same.
