Option years?

Am I missing something or do I have option years set wrong. This guy was drafted two years ago but already is out of options and is on waivers. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong, it's a fictional league I started currently in it's 6th year but a ton of players are being lost on waivers like this when I don't think they should be.

Thanks!!

Help me understand how options are affected by FA eligibility?

They are two completely different things.

Ya I don't get that either, nonetheless I just turned off waivers until I figure it out, whats happening is, teams are drafting guys then putting their high draft picks on the 40-man which is burning up their option years by the time they are 21 in some cases, but I still can't figure out why guys drafted a year prior are out of options with only 2 years or less of service time.

Well a guy could in theory have 3 days service time and be out of options. All it takes is one day on the active roster, but that takes 3 seasons.

Could it be that your service time counter is off? What I mean is that normally 172 days is required for a service year, maybe you have half that number such that these young players are burning through 2X years in one!

Now I get the reference to FA! It was too cryptic for me.

Check that on league settings/financials.

Do you have option years enabled under rules?

I do. Just turned off waivers recently, I like using waivers but not if a ton of good prospects keep getting claimed.

Option years?

I reported this around release day.

http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar....php?p=4014616

Guy in the example exhausted all of his option years in under 2 years.

In my online league, I often have to fix players because they get drafted and automatically get put on the 40 man roster. It doesn't happen to every player and I have no idea how it happens

It seems random. I've seen players that were picked as late as the 30th round get put on the 40 man after the draft.

I found your problem, in the Manuel it says and I quote "Note that for fictional leagues, players generated in the inaugural draft will have a random number of minor league option years. Don't assume that everyone has 3 since you just started the league!" that may be your solution.

I don't think the player in the op was from an inaugural draft. His league is in its 6th year and the player was drafted 2 years ago. This also doesn't explain the same problem I see in the QuickStart with some players.

That is correct, I turned waivers off for now, it's not a huge deal, I just like being able to waive and DFA guys I want to take off the 40 man instead of releasing them, I don't know of another way to remove them other than that.

I have had the same problem with many players drafted being placed on the 40 man. I have been unable to get anyone to acknowledge the problem or help my fix it.

Can you give more detail. League type, imported from previous version or not. Current day, historical, fictional, whatever. To explain I've been running the same leagues for many versions and it doesn't happen to me, ever. It suggest a particular set up may be the problem.

16 team fictional league. Not imported from previous game. The same thing happened in the previous version so I had hoped starting fresh would work.

June 5th 2009. League started in 2000 so I am nine years in.

I don't know how to capture a screen picture but I can do that if it helps.
