Newb question here about Steam

Hey everyone! I have played OOTP15 for a while back in the day but I am planning on getting deep into OOTP17 in hopes to join some online leagues and really have some fun. My question is I purchased the game on Steam and I am checking to make sure that was the right move.

See I don't know enough about OOTP yet to know if there are stand alone versions and which would be better but I already got OOTP17 on Steam and just checking to see if there are any other versions and what kind of pros and cons I would run into.

Thanks guys.

The Steam version is fine. I think a lot of people use it. The updates are a bit delayed, but only maybe a day. No real impact otherwise.
(I'm assuming you've used Steam with other games)

The Steam version is just fine and a lot of us play it.

According to OOTP itself, OOTP MLB play (modern and historical) outnumbers OOTP fictional play three to one.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

There's really no difference between the Steam version and the OOTPD license version. I install my license versions on my mobile computers and the Steam version on my desktop and play the same save on all three.

Perfect! I was afraid it might interfere with joining Online Leagues. Thanks!

Nope, no difference with online leagues at all. Enjoy!

One thing when playing on Steam is you might want to turn off the Steam overlay, sometimes I know on 16, you would type in a letter and the screen with Steam would pop up in game.

That, and install it on your C: drive if possible. Occasionally in 16 I would have issues if it wasn't.

Always do this. Right click on OOTP 17 on your Library Page and then unclick the overlay box.
