High School Quickstart
I have been a high school football and baseball coach for over 30 years. It is very odd to not be in season as day by day it seems likely our season is going to move from on hold to canceled.
I have been thinking about putting together a OOTP season to simulate our local high school league. I am not sure I will share the results with the players because of the potential for hurt feelings over ratings. But I think the other coaches will enjoy it. My question is - has anyone made a high school QuickStart? I know I would need to do a lot of edits. But it seems like it would be a good start. Even though I am an every year OOTP veteran - 99% of the 1000s of leagues I have played have all been MLB from all history to current. But I have never really built a league from scratch

You're most likely gonna have to build a custom schedule if you want it to be accurate. You guys just play on the weekends and one or two days during the week? Thsts the way it was in the Midwest at least. That will be probably be the biggest thing to do.

You are going to have to fudge the ages to make it work.
If you try to do it for real, like 15 to 18, the players are going to draft in very weak, with like a 30 points position rating, and even with development on 4.000 to get the ratings up in one year, the position ratings are still going to be a problem I suggest the fudge be ages 22-26 for example. or 21 to 25 a 21 year old has 150 position points on creation, a 22 year old 180 points, while of course their real rating points are much closer to their potential. As long as you know a 21 year old is really a 16 year old then it works fine...if you try to focus on having real ages...then beyond your initial created players the rest will basically suck and the league will become no fun in hours. but just change the ages in your head and it would work fine, I have done a 22-27 year old league for example with no issues at all |
