National League preview part 2

New York Giants
14 time Champions are led by Yogi Berra and Joe
Gordon, with Al Brazel anchoring the pitching staff.

1947 season. Ken Keltner, Connie Ryan and Charlie
Keller leading their attack.

Pittsburgh Pirates
An aged Luke Appling is looking for another season
before retiring. Josh Gibson and a young Paul Minner
will lead also.

St Louis Cardinals
St Louis has the most talent on their roster with Earl
Togerson, Early Wynn, Enos Slaughter, and Johnny Pesky.

America League Preview (Part 1)

Boston Red Sox
Red Sox hope to get support from Bobby Thompson
and Billy Cox and well as Steve Gromeck having a
very productive season.

Chicago White Sox
The worst team in the AL last season, they are hoping
and praying that is not the case this season.

Cleveland Indians
Indians are looking for Hank Sauer to hit his 30 HR as
he did last season. Red Embree looks to a good season.

Detroit Tigers
Hal Newhouser is on a roll, Triple Crown winner in '45,
is pumped for another exciting season. But he alone
cant hold off the Yankees. Vern Stephens and Nick
Etten will help the cause.

American League Preview (Part 2)

New York Yankees
Yankees won their Championship win #5 and are
looking to repeat. Howie Pollet and Joe Dobson,
both 20 game winners in '46, lead a tough rotation.
Stan Musial and Gil Hodge are the potent offense.

Philadelphia Athletics
Middle of the road team, Johnny Mize, Hank
Thompson, Ralph Kiner, and Hoot Evers all
hold a pop of their bat. Bobo Newsom and
Roger Wolff are over their prime and could
be a factor.

St Louis Browns
Browns finished on second to the Yankees.
Eddie Robinson provides the offense while
Mickey Harris leads a challenging pitching staff.

Washington Senators
After 6 straight losing seasons, the Senators
turned it around. The pitching staff was healthy
and offense recovered. Hank Greenberg and
Schoolboy Row maybe will be retiring at the
end of the season

July 1st 1948 Update
The American League looks like three teams in a rat race for the chance to appear in the World Series. New York, Detroit, and Philadelphia are all separated by a single game.
Over in the National League the Braves are on a roll with their 8 game winning streak, and are outpacing the rest of the league.

Washington Senators
The month of June was a disaster. A 9-20 record as the offense and defense broke down. Feller and Ferguson are over 9.30 era. Called up Carl Erskine and he pitches a shut out.
