Anybody remember the Patriots filming the Cincy sideline?

Yeah. I forgot too. Evidently, so did the NFL, I'm guessing. Was that ever resolved?

NFL security is going to hand over their final report in a few days.
From the small handful of people that I know in the pro football world, it is not expected anything more than a warning will be given.

I'm no Pats fan, but one does have to wonder, why would you feel the need to cheat to beat the Bungles?

BB's a very thorough guy, and they're on their first new coaching staff in almost two decades.

Yeah, against certain teams, like my New York Dwarfs, it may not be a good idea at all to film their sideline. "No, Harry, we'd better not do it this time. Not against that team. We may pick up bad habits!"

I think they just claimed those doing the filming were a separate entity. Sort of like if you hire a contractor and they do something illegal while working for you. Not your problem. You'd have to actually find a link.

Perhaps this is a stupid question... But what I don't understand is: Why would you need a credentialed film crew on the sidelines to film the opponents signals? Wouldn't it be less-risky to pay for tickets in a few different sections (with clear views of the opponent's sideline) and have those people film the sidelines?

You need expressed permission to film games. Their cameras would have been confiscated by security.

That explanation is not only weak, it is irrelevant. Whether is was a contractor, coach, popcorn vendor or waterboy, the Patriot organization is once more illegally filming other teams. They are repeat offenders.

They already accepted full responsibility for the actions of their production crew in their statement. Now it's up to the league to decide. You've read the statement, right? They've basically said it was independent contractors separate from their football operations that unknowingly broke the rules. And that their staff had no involvement in the film crew's planning.

Given the contradictory statement, that's probably what's taking so long.
