Its not based upon ratings but stats and where he is ranked in HR totals. I forget if he has to be in the top 3 or top 6 in HR for the owner's comments to change. Its something like that

considering in challenge mode I took THIS modern Giants team and built them into the #1 offense in all of baseball (and 3rd in HRs in Oracle Park) he should be very, very happy with me

Nice clarification, Jimmy, thanks. It's results that count, I guess, not color bars!
I've been teetering on the edge of turning off owner goals but I can't bring myself to it, especially after having recently earned an achievement for satisfying one of them. Plus we discussed this in the past and I now recall that I made an argument for keeping them on for a reason besides the extra challenge they present: In some cases, it's the game's way of suggesting an improvement. Such as the one about upgrading my 1B. He's absolutely right; the guy we have right now is a career slug. But, as the thread title says, "Owner Feedback needs a little work." If you look closely at his two other goals, he does seem a bit confused. Talk about putting cart before horse. Heh, I can be cavalier about owner goals because I have exercised that other, most blessed option: Cannot be fired.
