The FOBL has been going for 15 years... and has one opening
The FOBL has been in existence since (real-time) 2001, starting with OOTP 3, with 10+ original owners still on the roster as we move to 2060 in-game. Our constitution lays out most of our rules, but see below for more details.
We are moving to v17 for our 2060 season and have one opening. We are quite different from the vast majority of leagues. 1. We have our own custom-designed financial system that we operate outside of OOTP. A "brief" (tongue fully in cheek) primer can be found here. TL;DR: if you spend more than the average league payroll, you will lose money unless you win the playoffs. If you spend less, you make money. The system promotes parity. 2. We do not use OOTP finances at all. The only thing we use it for is to keep track of cash and player contracts. We do not use ticket prices, promotions, media contracts, waivers, Rule 5, etc. None of it. 3. We do free agency through an custom web app that implements an eBay-style reserve bidding system, and we have a form of "restricted free agency." We do not sign free agents through the OOTP in-game features. No extensions. We allow players to be released in-game, but all FA signings are made outside of the game. In the offseason, it's the eBay tool. In-season, we have forum threads where you claim players. This is also discussed in the primer. Being an owner in FOBL is challenging and has a steep learning curve, but is well-worth it if you want to compete against some of the best OOTP players in the world and have a different experience than most all other leagues. We just finished the offseason and are about to start 2060 later this week. We sim 4 times per week (Su, M, W, F) for 1 in-game week at a time. We use a 1-10+ scale (actual values) for talent and ratings. We do not use scouts or coaches. If you're interested or have questions, PM me here and I can give you access to posting privileges on the forum so you can introduce yourself. |
