Regional Drafts

Hello All,

I had a few quick questions about doing a round (or two) of a regional draft as part of my larger Amateur Draft.

First, as I understand it the draft is connected to the "Team Draft Region." Do I need to change any other settings? Such as the more basic "Region" above it on the team settings page?

Second, which round becomes the Regional Draft?

Finally, does it pull players from the general draft pool or does it create a separate draft pool of regional players?

If anyone has any other advice, tips, or general experiences with this setting I'd love to know more! Thanks in advance!

So I ended up testing this in a quick scratch game (so not very extensively) but it seems that the regional rounds go first and there is a regional pool that matches the teams draft region.
Also, it seems to be attached to their birthplace and not their college (which makes sense).

I am playing around with the Regional draft I set it to 2 rounds (in the first year draft section). Then went through all of the MLB teams and set their regional draft setting to by State. (ie. the Chicago team's regional draft is set for Illinois. Detroit is Michigan, etc.)

When you view the draft pool you can set a filter to filter it by Region (one of the choices is "current draft team" so when you are running the draft the filter will be for whatever the currently drafting team's region is. )
The regional pool is set up according to the player's birth city.

In this league I also did an inaugural draft and the first 2 rounds are also Regional drafts. So it looks like the regional draft will work for leagues where we release all the players and draft them to teams.

The first rounds of the draft are regional drafts so in my case the first 2 rounds the teams will only be able to pick from players form their state. after that then they can pick from the main pool.

I am going to assume that any players not drafted in the regional draft will be available in the main draft pool. I will double check that once I complete my draft. (in this league almost all of the teams are the only team in their state so it should be easy to check after 2 rounds to see if any of the California teams not drafted by LA will show up in the draft pool from round 3 onward.

I guess I am wrong. Am running the inaugural draft now and the computer teams are not drafting from a regional pool but are drafting from the main pool. The draft order tab showed the first two rounds as regional, and I clicked the check mark beside "Regional Selections" but that doesn't seem to have made a difference...

Frustrating..

I guess I can get around it by drafting in commissioner mode for the first two rounds and draft for the computer teams only drafting from their regions...
