Random Rule 5 Eligible?

In an online league and having problems with rule 5?

Players such as Wander Franco DShawn Knowles and a couple others who are 17 and just signed or drafted have to be protected?

Why would this be?

Is this some kind of in game error?

Did the commish do something while adding these guys to my team?

In real life, players who are released by a team and signed by another are immediately eligible for rule 5. The way we handle things, we translate that to being anyone who signs a minor league deal with a team who they did not draft/discover them is subject to that rule. So if your league handled things by signing players to minor league deals, it's possible that the rule 5 won't work effectively for those players. I'd certainly ask your commish how exactly those players were added, and we can figure out if there's a way around this potentially.

"They were assigned to teams manually in the individual player editor"

I'm guessing that assigning them in the editor is resetting their rule 5 years. The logic there cuts some corners so may not be handling things exactly.
