Allow SP in Relief setting being ignored?
Is this setting for AI manager, GM, or both? Because when i run AI GM to setup my teams it puts SP from the reserve roster at closer.

Can you explain this problem so we can understand it better? I'm confused.

Sure. I am doing a league made up of all best rookies seasons for each team (like the alltime greats quickstart but using rookie seasons). Therefore i have imported 50 players for each team on the reserve roster. The active roster is empty.
The "Allow SP in Relief" is set to no on all the pitching pages. But when i click on AI to setup my team its does 2 things: select 25 players from reserve roster and fill out team pitching roles, depth charts, and lineups. When i look at the results it has put SP picthers in the bullpen. For example, Jamie Garcia (Cardinals 2010) has been assigned closer role which directly contradicts Allow SP in Relief = NO Last edited by theOrange; 09-13-2016 at 11:16 AM. |

The "Allow SP in Relief" setting affects the AI manager's in-game substitutions. With it enabled, he may use a starting pitcher in relief (typically in extra inning games or other situations where the bullpen is spent).
This setting has nothing to do with how the AI decided to set up your staff. In your case, the AI has for whatever reason decided that it already has five starters on your staff who are better than Jamie Garcia, so it stuck him in the closer role.

Having your sixth starter be the long reliever is a quite common scenario. Only if you populate your teams with elite players, that sixth starter is suddenly great himself and so might become even the closer. As he can't start, what else is the AI supposed to do with him?
