Immortality - 4000 Hits
Well, my league finally had its first 4000 hit player. Junior Lovell who entered the big leagues at the age of 17 and played most of his career with Cleveland, just collected 2 hits to reach the 4000 hit plateau. Picked up by my New York Pride in 2040 to serve as a DH, Junior collected a milestone i thought no one would ever reach.
Given that he is 39 - Pete Rose's record may or may not fall...... Has anyone else ever had a player reach this plateau? |

And just for some flavor - here is his baseball card:
He is the best player in my leagues history. |

Congrats I had a player in my league that I stopped using in 2050 and started over. He had 4295 hits .... hopefully your guy can beat Pete rose
Will he run out of gas or not ... liked how he been consistent. And no injuries. Plus looking at career I wonder if copied lol Last edited by r0nster; 06-08-2016 at 12:10 PM. |

I once had a fictional player named Andrew Courtney play in the majors from age 22-45 (MLB, default aging settings) with 3884 hits. That's the closest I've seen. Does Junior Lovell have 80 hit and 20 Power? That's an awfully long career for only 35 HR Last edited by grmagne; 06-08-2016 at 12:11 PM. |

How did he make it to the majors so young? Did you remove the draft and find a player that already had MLB-quality ratings at age 16?

Didn't Bob Horner of the braves break into bigs at 17 or 18. He skipped minors. Perhaps this player skipped it too. Thought perhaps international player but I see that he a good olé boy American

I have never modified any players nor created any players or copied any players. Every player is system generated. I let computer evolve the league itself and select hall of fame and all star and everything. I want everything to be on the up and up and honest!
As for how he came up at 16 I have no idea. I do have a draft. And I have never modified any of those settings. I never paid attention until year 3 as he became a stud! I will post his player card. I only wish he played for my team his entire career like a Derek jeter. Instead he's going to finish his career with me. Last edited by aslanking; 06-08-2016 at 12:24 PM. |

I'm impressed I don't think I've ever had anyone with that many hits. Going to be tough to beat the record though, still as a decent ways left with a lot of mileage.

I started a league, now in year 4 of fictional players that were between the ages of 18-22, so I have some young MLB ready players and now I have a draft feeding them to see how high I can get a player, I have one guy closing in on 700 hits right now.

I believe I just read about Horner yesterday, he was drafted out of college and went right to the bigs. |

Pete Incavglia, Mike Leake, and believe Clyde Wright are some of players who have made the jump from college/high school to the majors in the post draft era.

Earliest I've seen in the bigs is 18, and those sightings have been few and far between for me. And here this guy is, in the bigs perhaps before he even has a drivers license!

Here are Junior's Ratings as of the age of 39. I am sure they were much higher at one point.
His numbers are staggering. Just take a gander at his HITS versus everyone else. And his WAR |

Robin Yount broke into the bigs at 18.
Ironically, his brother, Larry, is the only pitcher to ever appear in the record books without facing a batter. He hurt his arm in a 1971 game with the Astros against the Braves during his warm-up pitches, left the game and never made it back to the big leagues. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larry_Yount September 15, 1971 Atlanta Braves at Houston Astros Box Score and Play by Play | Baseball-Reference.com |

Is this guy on your team as well? Did you ever manage him directly? Heck, it will be sad to see him go after such a long ride.

I've got a guy 42 years old unsigned in June 2099 who is at 3955 hits. Still got something left as a DH. I just offered him a minor league deal as my team sucks badly.

I signed the 39 year old free agent Lovell to a three year deal this year. Two reasons. Needed a DH anyway and I wanted to be able to control his playing time. My team is coming off a championship and so I can give Lovell at bats without worry of annoying my owner. I want him to get to ROSE!

4 in my fictional league have passed Pete, just barely tho. League is 64 teams, simmed the first 100 years and GM'd all the others since. No injuries in this league, so the numbers are skewed a bit higher.
Funny thing is, 4 of the top 10 hits leaders never made it to the HOF, including the top 2. HOF Induction Threshold Percent is set @ 80%.
