Post-season tournament
I run a 1954 historical league. Only a handful of teams are in the world series race and by June many teams are hopelessly out of contention. It's just the nature of the error. The situation is more hopeless for many teams because we assign rookies rather than use an amateur draft.
To help keep people interested, I was thinking about having a single-elimination tournament for the teams which don't make the playoffs with cash prizes. I think this would be okay, I know maelstrom uses it, but before I put it to the league I want to make sure this isn't babying them too much or taking away from the World Series. I'm very much a purist but I understand that lots of teams have nothing to play for. |
