How have schedules to be named so that the game loads them automatically?
I have created several schedules for my fictional leagues
How do they have to be named that the game loads them automatically year after year?

This might help you. I have referred to it in the past.

Like this as an example gulf_coast_league_r_c_2018.lsdl gulf_coast_league_r_c_2019.lsdl gulf_coast_league_r_c_2020.lsdl or another example: ILN_BGY_G140_T8_C_2006.lsdl ILN_BGY_G140_T8_C_2007.lsdl This naming has to match your fictional lgs. settings/options page settings. If they don't match , your schedule won't load. ILN=Interleague not enabled ILY=enabled BGY=Balanced games enabled BGN=Disabled G140=#of games per season T8=# of teams in your lg. C=comment (you can add anything you like here such as the date. as long as nothing changes from year to year..you'll be all set. Last edited by Bigrod; 03-25-2018 at 11:54 PM. |

you can just type "MLB_ml.lsdl" and if the league is named MLB it will autoload. the second portion is the league level ml, aaa, aa the same ones you see in the league settings (ie no 'a+', just 'a' works for "high a" because there is no real designation unless they added it in '19)
after the _C_ you can type anything and it will go in that alpha/numerical order. it's just a comment section. C_1 or C_A c_2 or C_B etc and it will rotate... or years like the example above. you can put the options in the file name for your own sanity, but it isn't necessary. the header in the file is what matters (open in notepad+ etc). just mimic the most basic schedule names and varying names you can see in your data\schedules directory. |

Thanks guys!
So if I understand that correct, it doesn't matter how I rename my file as long as I don't change the header of the file. For example when my file is "ILY_BGN_G162_SL1_D1_T8_D2_T8_D3_T8_SL2_D1_T8_D2_T 8_D3_T8_C" The game automatically would load it, no matter if I name it "ILY_BGN_G162_SL1_D1_T8_D2_T8_D3_T8_SL2_D1_T8_D2_T 8_D3_T8_C_1975" or "world_baseball_league_1975"?

yeah, and hopefully the header is what the schedule says it is, or it's not going to represent the settings very well. the only manipulation that will occur after that is a recycling of matchups - still adheres to your settings of course... so if unbalanced it'll swap around in teh divisions and not between etc.
you don't even need the 1975 -- no other league named that in the directory right? if i am mistaken, it might be a good idea? maybe not necessary even then. watch for any unintended cycling of schedule files if there are other league schedules with that league name etc. append a number or letter if you want it to cycle between two+ schedules. otherwise it will re-use that one and recycle matchups once it is selected and used.. |

"The game automatically would load it, no matter if I name it
"ILY_BGN_G162_SL1_D1_T8_D2_T8_D3_T8_SL2_D1_T8_ D2_T 8_D3_T8_C_1975" or "world_baseball_league_1975"? " i misread that last part a bit. less likely that long name is going to be unique. just make sure no other schedul is named - ILY_BGN_G162_SL1_D1_T8_D2_T8_D3_T8_SL2_D1_T8_D2_T 8_D3_T8 if no others exist, it will be the only schedul automatically choosen. so, it can choose based on setting and congruent file name, or the name of the league. typically the name of the league is a heck of a lot easier to type and not make any typographical errors. |

Here's the order that ootp looks for with schedules.
1. Name of the league and level (in file name) 2. Year ( in file name) 3. If ootp finds an accurate filename it then looks inside the file for matching element line. If it can't find one with matching element line, then next step. 4. It'll look for a filename that matches ootp's league schedule options settings. 5. If it can't find any of the above, it'll use the last working schedule if one is loaded and rearrange the matchups. 6. If all else fails it'll create its own schedule based on lg. structure and schedule options settings with certain limitations (doesn't do odd # of teams or interleague very well) so you have to export the schedule and manually adjust to your liking and re-import or manually set it to your liking on the edit schedule page. I've been doing all the schedules for ootp since 2010 and unless I've suddenly got dimentia...that's how it works. Last edited by Bigrod; 03-27-2018 at 12:36 AM. |

Thanks for your help!
If I understood correctly naming the files "world_baseball_league_1975", "world_baseball_league_1976", etc. the game automatically will load the correct schedule

and you've got it I don't think you need the level but if you do you should name it like this world_baseball_league_int_c_1976 the int=International assuming your lg. is an international one. Remember...it's always smart to backup your game a couple of days before pre-season starts. That way you can always load up your backup should something go whacky. When pre-season starts, check the League settings/options page and make sure that years schedule loads. Any problems...feel free to pm me anytime. Good luck and enjoy |
