If people don't like the fact that the majority of the people who POST on this forum prefer fictional then feel free to troll the Steam forums. In the meantime those who prefer fictional on the OOTP forums outnumber those who prefer MLB nearly 2-1.

Basically, what I'm saying is that we like to talk about fictional around here. Too bad for you if you don't like it. You are the minority around HERE.
Based on an unscientific online poll in ONE THREAD? LOL.

I wish there was a fictional QuickStart duplicating the MLB. If there's a way to do it please let me know. Going through each minor league team and feeling each team with fictional players is a bit cumbersome.

Select "New Custom Game" then select "Create Fictional League" on the next wizard screen you will see middle of screen...Or choose a real world league configuration. The very first option is "Major League Baseball" select that and you have exactly what you are looking for. Fictional players with real MLB setup.

lol my thoughts exactly. I've come to expect no better from him. I like how he derailed my post though. Completely ignoring my request for an explanation on why he feels the data collection method is accurate. Will we get that, of course not. He has no answer. Just the same, typical BS.

We have this thread almost every year and they all say people prefer fictional over modern.
I have yet to create a 2016 White Sox league. i gave up on my 2016 fantasy draft league like i do every year after a month. Stick to my 2 fictional leagues which date back to OOTP 11.
Do people who download the game and not post on the forums outnumber the ones who do post on the forum?

Since we're rehashing points which were first made months ago, I'll remind everyone that "majority" is just a kinder means of saying "lowest common denominator."

I mean, more people shop at Walmart than at the locally owned grocer, too. Should we pander strictly to...those people? Or do we instead recognize their spending habits as lazy and ultimately detrimental to the whole of civilization? The answer is obvious. This analogy is basically perfect and cannot be disputed.

pretty much how i play the game. Works well if you don't mind the fictional players besides Ruth or Cobb ... and maybe outplaying them. I manually enter a bunch of Negro League players I have sorted through by the years they first appeared in Negro Leagues, and then I get a few international players from my scout ... toss them in the blender with historical ML .. and bim, bam, boom - you got a historical fictional league blooming in no time. Personally, I love it.

Both, honestly. Historical gives me the chance to relive my fave teams/seasons and to play out what if scenarios. Fictional let's me create feeders for high school and college to feed a league of my own choosing. There's a lot of work in setting up leagues but it's so enjoyable to set it up and watch it go. Fictional also avoids the issue with knowing how historical players evolve.

That's flawed too, because if someone is a "sim style" player who sims 50 or 100 years regularly just to look at the results, then that person's playing time is going to be disproportionately counted compared to someone like me who plays out one game at a time and gets through like one or two seasons per OOTP version.

Fair point. The truth is aside from a time counter, we will never get truly accurate results.

I love historical/real first then it automatically and slowly becomes fictional. Gets the best of both worlds.

You know when I started the thread was not to start a war. I honestly just like to said in the opening comment. I'm just curious what most people in this community play just to see the make up of the community. There was no reasons or value to try to stomp the fictional community has a second rate citizen

I didn't know how to vote. I play a fictional setup starting in 1871 with modern day rules and real players. Everything is recalculated with 1976 stats so that there is consistency throughout the sim. Around 1960 it starts to become more of a world league.
