Update?
Haven't heard a thing in quite a while. Is no news good news or bad news?

I check back in frequently, too. I think they mentioned monthly updates at some point but, with the game targeted for summer/fall 2017, I wouldn't worry about slow updates at this point.

I just started with the actual coding of the match engine. Apart from that, there is not a really a whole lot else I can tell you at the moment. But we have been making some nice progress over the last few weeks.

It makes me nervous when people developing american football games use terms that aren't part of american football, like "match".

Match is definitely used in american football. Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth always calls Sunday Night Football games. "Tonight is a match-up between [insert team] and [insert team]."

Sure, "match-up" might get used, but no one ever says "hey did you check out that match last night between the Niners and Seahawks?" It's not a big deal, I've just been burned before when I've heard of a new football game coming out, checked it out and noticed it's being developed by a non american company and start seeing all kinds of terminology that we don't use. Such as this game Front Page Sports Football on Steam

As long as the person understand the intricacies, I would forgive some terminology slips.

Scares the heck out of me----we don't have football matches here, we have football games. Have been burned before by developers not truly familiar with American Football. Will certainly wait until I am sure before purchasing this.

Yeah, having non-Americans create computer games for American sports is a really dicey competition. Can you imagine what would happen if a couple of German guys developed a baseball game?
Geez, lighten up. "Match engine" is a perfectly acceptable programming term.

You can call it a match, meet, gathering, game or hoedown throw down for all I care.

Match engine is just a term introduced by Sports Interactive for their own simulation engine. I just took over the term. That's really all there is to it.

Just as an academic exercise, here is what I came up with comparing terminology:
(American Football listed first, followed by World Football, esp England) Sport - Game Game - Match Team - Club Starters - First Team Stadium - Arena, Grounds, Stadium Field - Pitch Tie - Draw Standings - Table Schedule - Fixtures Practice - Training Exhibition - Friendly |

I think Match Engine is some kind of a coding term like Michael said....

So you have "Dallas is my favorite team" versus "Manchester City are my favorite club." |
