Join the LRS today!

The LRS is a 12-team fictional league in its tenth year of play and seventh year as a human-run league. All franchises with the exception of Seoul are located in Japan. We have been fortunate to attract a quality group of friendly, competitive, active owners. We're always interested in getting to know more like-minded individuals with an interest in joining in our fun and would love to hear from you.

We seek unique individuals who aren't afraid to challenge themselves. Most people come to online leagues looking for the typical North American baseball experience, but it takes a special kind of player to try something different. The LRS brand of baseball is certainly a different baseball environment. Our members have found it to be an extremely rewarding environment, as well. Now you can find out why for yourself!

We also look for the kind of person who views an online league as an opportunity not just to compete but to socialize and share with a group of passionate baseball nuts. If you enjoy being active in forums, you're likely a great fit. The LRS places an emphasis on writing contributions, as well. The amazing stories our creative owners come up with really help bring our fictional players to life! You don't have to be Shakespeare, but if you like exercising your brain as part of your online baseball experience then you've found the right league.

Creating an immersive and highly entertaining fictional baseball environment is the primary goal of the LRS. We welcome any owner who would enjoy contributing to that goal regardless of their experience level. If you're an enthusiastic OOTP newbie or a seasoned vet looking for a friendly new group of people to compete against, the LRS may be the perfect landing spot for you!

Kawaguchi is transmitting a signal for a new GM! Are you the man for the job?

Many of you are familiar with the PEBA and its Japanese sister league, the LRS. Our leagues are heavily involved in the OOTP affairs, most recently serving as the screenshot foundation for OOTP 13's Road to Release, Part 3 newsletter. While we look forward to a future migration to OOTP 13 down the road, today we present the LRS's first OOTP 12 general manager opening, courtesy of the Kawaguchi Transmitters. This is an opportunity that will separate the men from the boys. If you're someone who wants to inherit a ready-made contender, look elsewhere. A month and a half into the season, Kawaguchi has the worst record in the league (12-24). Unless something changes soon, the Transmitters will finish 2016 with their sixth consecutive losing season. It's hard to remember the team's glory days when, under their old name (the Yamato Battleships), they won the Neo-Tokyo Cup in two of the league's three first seasons.

But for the would-be GM who can stomach a challenge, Kawaguchi offers hidden promise. It starts with a farm system that boasts top-rated talent like Taheiji Kiyomizu, Kisho Suzuki, Naomichi Matsui, and Taheiji Kiyomizu (who has already reached the bigs after being selected #5 overall last season). The system is only going to get stronger, too. Kawaguchi holds the #1 pick in next week's amateur draft. Will it be high school phenom SP Kensaku "Little" Gato? Slick-fielding catcher Yoshihisa Tanaka? Flame-throwing RHP Eijiro Nakagawa? One way or another, an über-talent is going to be added to an already stacked farm.

The good news isn't limited to the minors. The front office has trimmed fat off the payroll, and the result is that Kawaguchi is on track to post its first profitable season in the last three. Roberto Cuevas may be a gaijin (a non-Japanese national), but he's a red-hot slugger that could become a blue-chip trading option. And 2014 #1 overall pick Kiyoemon Saito is about to return from a lengthy injury rehab and provide the rotation with a needed shot in the arm.

The Transmitters aren't a team for those who want success quick and easy, or for those who fear an eastern brand of baseball. But for those who don't cringe from unique opportunities and understand that the greatest rewards come from tackling the greatest challenges, there's hidden gold waiting for you here. Apply today and restore Kawaguchi to its past glory!

And even if you're not ready to take on a LRS GM position, we want you to join our active community! Register at the PEBA forums and join in our wide-ranging discussions. Baseball is only a small part of what we're talking about, and you're sure to find a topic of interest. Find out what makes the PEBA forums one of the most active amongst OOTP online leagues!

I've been a member of the PEBA for around 6 seasons and I can guarantee you will have a blast. The league has a rich history that I still get lost in thanks to the creative community. Not only are the other owners fun to compete against, they are also awesome people. It's as much a social experience as it is a baseball league

If you are ready for a challenge in one of the most difficult OOTP on-line leagues, then the LRS is what your are looking for. With only 12 teams, lower budgets and the gaijin rule, this will make you look at OOTP in a completely different way. You will not regret joining!!!

I'd like to welcome Mike Matha as our new Kawaguchi Transmitters GM! Though we're once again fully staffed, I welcome interested parties to register on the PEBA forums. You don't have to be interested in joining the PEBA/LRS to benefit from membership on our forums; there are always interesting off-topic conversations happening there. And if you are interested in joining, there's not better way to get your foot in the door than involving yourself with us right away!

Kawaguchi is rebroadcasting its desire for a new GM

Life happens sometimes, causing the best laid plans to go astray. Such is the case for our newest league member, who finds himself needing to step away shortly after joining us. As he prepares to deploy overseas - and we wish him the very best - we find ourselves in search of a new Kawaguchi GM. You can read all about the opportunity here. If you're ready for the challenge, apply today and begin restoring Kawaguchi to its past glory!

And even if you're not ready to take on a LRS GM position, we want you to join our active community! Register at the PEBA forums and join in our wide-ranging discussions. Managing in the LRS is a real ootp challenge. With only four Gaijin (non-Japanese) players allowed on your roster it is a real battle to grab the best Japanese players before your fellow LRS GM's. Only having two levels of minors presents its own challenges too but these challenges are worth facing. You won't meet a better group of GMs than the LRS GMs, they're always willing to talk trades and baseball and pass on any tips you need. Join a real community, you won't regret it - this is one league where you get out what you put in.

Kawaguchi has its new GM! Thank you to those who responded. Keep an eye out for GM openings. We're coming upon the end of our 2016 season, and openings most often occur during the off-season. We'll keep you informed right here of any that arise.

Hyakujuu was off track in 2016, but the Shinkansen have the bullets to make this train fly

2016 represented an undeniable back-step for the Shikansen. They finished 21 games off their pace from the previous season, erasing the 21 game improvement they enjoyed from 2014 to 2015. Failure to capture momentum from a 2015 season that landed Hyakujuu in the playoffs for the first time since the league's inaugural season landed the team all the way back in second-to-last place in the Shining Star Group. Team batting average dropped back down to 2014 levels, and team ERA of 4.73 was the worst mark recorded in franchise history.

Despite these negatives, there is considerable reason for optimism over another turnaround. Hyakujuu's potent offense actually knocked in nearly as many runs as the lackluster pitching staff surrendered. This left the team with a Pythagorean record of 71-73, eight games better than their actual record. Much of that strong offense was built on the backs of rookie and second-year hitters like Shinkichi Ohayashi, Kinji Hayakawa, and Tamuramaro Fujii. LRS rules require players to reach six service years before qualifying for arbitration, so Hyakujuu has a cost-controlled core of interesting young sluggers to build around.

Exciting batters aren't the only positives for the Hiroshima-based Shinkansen. Though the club wasn't able to hold onto the gains made in 2015, fans didn't quickly forget last year's performance. They showed that their ready to back a contender by turning out early and often. Hyakujuu posted their best attendance since the inaugural season of 2007.

A new GM cannot count on the continued goodwill of the Shinkansen fan base, however. His first order of business will certainly have to be bolstering a pitching staff that suffered disappointing seasons from veterans Tetsuo Okazaki and Carlos "Chopper" Camacho. Do these guys have the skill to bounce back, or is it time to engineer some trades? What about pending free agents like All-Star closer Pepe Rico and famed slugger Ton "Dracula" Nakamura? Extend or cut bait?

As GM of the Hyakujuu Shinkansen, All these choices and more will be yours to make. And while you're making them, you'll be enjoying participating in OOTP's premiere writing-focused league, a place where new stories are always rolling in and new topics of conversation are constantly being started. Sound appealing? Then apply today and get the Shinkansen back on track!

Bumping to highlight a great opportunity. PEBA is one of the top OOTP online leagues run by an amazing commish. The LRS is the 12-team sister league that exists in the same universe, and offers particular challenges, including a limit of four foreigners per active roster. The open team is in the Shining Star Group division, and four of the six GMs in the SSG (including myself) have been there a long time and are extremely involved/competitive. The open team placed second in the division in the 2015 season before falling to fifth in the just-completed season.

In short: a great opportunity.
