I was six years old when Don Larsen pitched his perfect game. It is the first sports story I remember from my childhood. While I didn't really understand what had happened I knew it was significant. RIP Mr. Larsen you are the first memory I have of the game of baseball that has been such an important part of my life.

A now deceased former colleague was at that game in 1956. He was also present at Jackie Robinsons first game in Montreal in 1946. Needless to say he and I talked a lot of baseball during our travels in Quebec.
RIP Maurice! A huge Yankee fan RIP Don Larsen

I somehow knew about Larsen as a young fan. Absorbed it from somewhere, as I did Maz's home run.

What did Larsen's wife do the day after he pitched his perfect game? She served him with divorce papers.
RIP, Mr. Larsen. On that day an imperfect man achieved perfection on the baseball field. |
