One of my fragile players is my best hitter a .950 1.000 OPS type hitter and I think I would rather have him rest once a week or something than to have him injured or resting him when hes tired is that good enough? Is there other ways to help them get injured less?

Not really. Just like real life some players are injury prone. I've learned to take a chance on fragile players as they can be very healthy for long periods. I also let them go or trade them if I think my luck is about to run out.
To me Brett Lawrie is the perfect analogue to the OOTP fragile player. If he does play a whole season he may be very very good.
