This photo has his face in the shadows, but at least it depicts Onslow in a Red Sox uniform. It's from the Des Moines Register of March 10, 1934.

Wes Stock Seattle Mariners 1977-81

Wes Stock pitched in 321 big league games (only 3 GS)between 1959-67 with the Orioles and KC A's. After his career ended he became a long time pitching coach including a solid run (1973-76) with the great Oakland A's clubs. He was with the Mariners (pictured here) from their expansion season of 1977 thru 1981. He also served as a broadcaster for the 1982-1983 Mariners before returning to the A's as their pitching coach from 1984-1986.

Bob Winkles SF Giants 1976

Legendary college baseball coach Bob Winkles worked one season as a coach for the SF Giants in 1976. Winkles was the head coach at Arizona State from 1959-71 turning them into the premier collegiate program in the country winning 3 national titles and developing many big leaguers including Reggie Jackson, Rick Monday, and Sal Bando.

He coached the Giants in between two big league manager jobs as he was the skipper for the Angels (73-74) and the A's (77-78). His biggest success, however in MLB was leading the Expos player development in the late 70's and early 80's. The 87 year old is living in La Quinta, CA.

Astros Coaches

Many of those guys are on Mothers Cookies coaches cards. I don't have them to reproduce directly, but should be a cheap pickup on ebay or elsewhere, even as part of a set.

Posting one FYI. Also this very poor contrast of Deacon Jones was on ebay.

Grover "Deacon" Jones 1962

Found an excellent photo of Jones in an Astros uniform, from the 1982 Yearbook!

Thanks to Bill McCurdy's blog, he's got a lot of Houston-related info.

Brace-photographed Coaches

Color images have been requested of these gentlemen earlier. Since so much has been removed, I can't tell if these were every posted before -- but they're not here at present.

Good B&W images of Joe Camacho (Senators) are on this thread, but this is obviously a 1969-era shot from Brace. The Williams (Pades) dates to 1977, the Ruberto (Cardinals) to 1978. At the time, I've read, Ruberto was the youngest coach in the big leagues as part of Vern Rapp's staff.

But my favorite here, Glen Rosenbaum, has more questions than answers. A career minior leaguer as a player, he was on White Sox coaching staffs in the 70s and 80s, but this is a 60s image. After a long career flirting with the majors (95-45 record!), he was reportedly out of baseball in 1966-67, but was hired in 1968 to be the White Sox batting practice pitcher, a job he held for nearly 20 seasons. He also served as traveling secretary for the Sox, retiring from that job in 1998. He wore #39 during much of his coaching career, and this shot is in Comiskey, so I wonder if he were an extra roster player in 64-65, returning to the minors without ever gettng in a game...

The number on the jersey front, combined with the pinstripes, dates Rosenbaum's uniform to 1967 or 1968 -- no earlier. So it looks as though you have answered your own question, i.e. that he was a batting practice pitcher at the time. He's not on the list of players known to have been on major league rosters during the regular season, but never having gotten into major league games, i.e. the "Sharman Society."

Cot Deal

Am attempting to find color images of Cot Deal with Yankees (65), Athletics (66-67), Indians (70-71). Actually anything with the latter two would be awesome.

Vern Benson 1965

Picked up this shot of Benson during his Yankee tenure (65-66), but it struck me that this looks almost exactly like a Norman Rockwell baseball painting, with Keane in thebackgroiund and the kids above.Just a special shot.

Bob Cluck 1990

Found another of my Astros coaches whilst digging last night. This one comes from an Amazon listing.

Cluck toiled in the minors from 1967 to 1974, spending his final three seasons at the AAA level, but never making the show. He'd spend some time managing in the minors with the Dubuque Packers (75-76) and the Las Vegas Stars (84-85) before becoming Houston's pitching coach under Art Howe from 1990-1993 and later with Oakland (96-98) and Detroit (03-05).

Ron Piche - Montreal Expos

Ron Piche was the first base coach for the Montreal Expos in 1976.

He worked many years for the Expos as a minor league pitching instructor and in community relations. Piche died from cancer on February 3, 2011.

Chris Chambliss?

Anything good of Chambliss as a Yankee coach - I've seen the results of a Google search, and am looking for something larger and un-watermarked if possible. Thanks!

1980 Royals Hitting Coach

Trying to discover who Kansas City used as a hitting coach in 1980. The usual sources ID Connors as the P coach, Martinez at 1st, MacKenzie at 3rd and Schaffer in the pen. None ID any additional coaches, and the BR Bullpen lists the position in 1980 as "N/A". I have to believe that one of the listed coaches did double duty as de facto hitting instructor. Any ideas? Thanks

Mani Martinez

Looking for a nice image of Martinez, the Red Sox bullpen catcher. Also, if anyone can tell me how long he's been with the club, it would be appreciated. Can't seem to track this down on line.
