Walkers news: Sept. 17 -- St. Louis 6, Cedar Rapids 4

Record: 87-59, 1st, 5.5 GA Springfield
Down 1-0, St. Louis scored at least one run in each of the second through fifth innings to send it to a 6-4 win over Cedar Rapids at Busch Stadium (1997).
The win gave a three-game sweep of the series to the River Walkers.
An RBI double from Dominic Smith off Walkers starting pitcher Aaron Civale in the top of the first gave the Golden Grapplers their early lead.
St. Louis tied it in the second.
Jean Carmona drew a one-out walk from Cedar Rapids starter.
He stole second and scored on a Reese McGuire double.
An inning later, the Walkers took the lead.
Bo Bichette led off with a double, then after moving to third on a Carlos Vidal single, he scored on another single, this one from Rhys Hoskins.
That lead had grown to 4-1 by the end of the fourth inning, Vidal driging in both runs with a double off Harp.
Domingo Santana's RBI single off Civale in the fifth made it 4-2.
But the Walkers got that run back plus an additional one in the bottom of the inning.
Edmond Americaan earned both the RBIs with a double off Danny Meija.
A balk and a walk, both with the bases loaded by NIck Lodolo, drew Cedar Rapids to within 6-4 in the top of the sixth.
But the St. Louis' bullpen posted nothing but zeros the rest of the way.
After Civale had allowed four runs on nine hits over the first five innings and into the sixth.
Lodolo pitched the sixth inning.
John Curtiss got the first out of the seventh before giving way to Dan Jennings, who accounted for six outs.

Jake Brentz closed it out and earned his 17th save.

Walkers news:Sept. 18 -- Des Moines 7, St. Louis 1

Record: 87-60, 1st, 5 GA Springfield
Des Moines jumped on St. Louis starting pitcher Adonis Medina for four runs in the top of the first and never looked back in posting a 7-1 win at Busch Stadium (1997).
Making his first start in the majors since suffering a right shoulder injury on May 27, Medina took some major lumps from the get-go.
After a strikeout to open the game, Medina allowed a single to Jackson Miller and walked Rafael Devers.
He struck out Cody Bellinger for the second out.
But John Lehto followed with an RBI single.
Austin Meadows then applied the big blow with a three-run homer.
The Harvesters added another run against Medina in the second.
Carlos David Rodriguez led off with a single and was moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from Chance Adams.
Rodriguez scored on a two-out single by Miller.
Overshadowed by the early offense, Adams (8-8) turned in quite the effort throwing five hitless innings before exiting due to a pitch count of 89.
Dane Dunning allowed the lone River Walkers run in the sixth -- a solo homer by Carlos Vidal -- but the Des Moines relievers were spotless the rest of the way.
Yelin Rodriguez didn't allow a run during the seventh or eighth innings.
Ronny Carvajal wrapped it up by striking out the side in the ninth.
