If anyone has problems with the new update: look here
Ok for those of you with problems with the new update. I have a 2nd gen Ipod touch, not jail broken. At 1st everytime I tried to load the game it crashed. I then rebooted my ipod touch and it works fine.
I played 3 games at work on all my breaks and each time it loaded fine. So everyone should try that before you all get upset and say the update doesn't work. Nice work Markus and Co. |

User with older devices should always reboot the device before playing iOOTP to free up as much memory as possible. Then save manually before you quit the App and everything should work.

I know we all should. But I forgot or get too lazy to do it all the time. I just wanted to state the obvious in case it happens to anyone.

Word of warning if you're running a multi-tasking version of iOS (ie. 4.0 or above) then I've no idea what happens if you install an update when an app is active ...
Logically speaking its probably possible but it may well leave the old version in memory (ie. until you close and restart the application you'll be running it unpatched). |

PS - Don't hit me for mentioning this - but in case anyone isn't aware of how to fully close an application on iOS4+ ... In iOS4, when you want to close an app (which was previously achieved by pressing the home button once) you have to: 1. Press home button once to get to home screen 2. Double press the home button to see the app you want to close on the tray 4. Hold down on an app to enable 'closing' (the icons will start to 'shake' and a red '-' button in a circle appear in the top left of the apps) 5. Press the 'Close' button on the app (ie. the red circle) Last edited by Marc Vaughan; 05-17-2011 at 10:26 PM. |

I have always had issues with the game (both before and after the update) whereby the game crashes and I am returned to the I-Phone menu screen
Seems to happen when I am listening to my music as well (also from phone) Got kicked out 5 times this morning on my tube ride to work ?!? Is this simply because it is the 3G model ? Or is there something else I could do to avoid this ?? |

1. Reboot your device before you start iOOTP to free up memory. 2. Do not listen to music while playing the game (I didn't even know that it is possible) 3. Save manually before you quit the game (additionally, the game will auto save weekly). 4. Don't play 20 seasons at once. If you play for a long time, save the game manually, quit the game, reboot the device and continue the game.

Thanks for that
Just to clarify my tube ride is 40 minutes so 5 is a lot of crashes another odd thing is that very often when I am returned (against my will) to the I-Phone menu screen I see that I have an email Coincidence ..... probably Thought I had lucked out this morning when it crashed right after Crawford got injured Reloaded the game and of course he was not injured any more .. then on the same day as CC got injured I got a message to say Lester was out for a month It seems to crash most often when the auto save is being actioned Last edited by Disco Dog 13; 05-18-2011 at 11:30 AM. |

I'm pretty sure the reason is low memory.
Did you reboot the device before playing the last time (and/or after the first crash)? - Hold down the hold button at the top and the home button at the center front of the device. - Continue holding them even after the slider to turn off the device appears. - A few seconds after this, the screen will flash and go black. - Hold down the hold button at the top until the screen lights up again and the Apple logo appears. - Release the button and let the device finish booting up.

I know it sounds crazy, but some people are always going to do this. And some of those people will never think to get on the forums. Meaning their experience of the game will not be good after a few seasons in a row. For those people sake, you guys should probably optimize the algorithms to mitigate this. That's what I was saying with the memory leak thing a while back. Just sayin |
