Trying to figure out another market or two...

48 team major league. Trying to figure out where to relocate one of my teams. Where am I missing. Don't want microsmall towns or names that are "funny" just looking for semi-plausible ideas for more places to stick teams. I'm fine with things as-is, but i tend to just go to the same places...looking for my next long-term location for a franchise.

Ideas? Here's the current landscape.

Here are the teams in my league that you don't have:

Dallas
Vancouver
Minneapolis
San Diego
Columbus
Cincinnati
Las Vegas
Charlotte
Atlanta

Also, might you want to think about expanding across the Atlantic or down south into Latin America?

1) Why is San Juan in the NL East, rather than South?
2) Is Amarillo really big enough to support a major league franchise?
3) I would suggest San Antonio, but proximity to Austin may pose a problem (realistically speaking, in game it wouldn't matter)
4) As masongb points out, there's no Dallas, Vancouver, San Diego, Vegas, Charlotte, or Atlanta; I would choose either Cincinnati or Columbus, not both.
5) In which city is your Virginia team? The Virginia Beach area is quite big with all those medium sized towns, but there is also an almost as big Richmond market.
6) The last part of question (point) #4 suggests to pick between Cincinnati or Columbus; but you already have a West Virginia team, which would likely be located in Huntington, whose proximity to Columbus would realistically be a factor.
7) In which city is your Florida team? There are 4 major markets in Florida, all distinct from one another; Miami, Tampa-St. Pete, Orlando, and Jacksonville. As well as some mid level markets like Sarasota-Bradenton, Pensacola-Tallahassee
8)Anchorage Alaska

I don't really care about reality in this scenario. Just FYI. That's why Amarillo (and Boise, et. al.)

I'm more interested in good names and interesting stories, so long as the towns aren't tiny. I mean, in a real life simulation no way you'd put a team in Green Bay if we were remaking the NFL.

Good questions.

Anchorage is interesting. I moved Hawaii to the mainland.

San Juan is in the east because of the Puerto rican population in NYC and Philly would probably make them a better draw there than down south. I did have them in the South originally.

I only try to speckle a few major league cities in with lots of non-ML cities intentionally because I like to mix the stories up some.

Havana and Mexico City would each lend themselves to many stories.

I actually have a Caribbean Division in my fictional league. Havana, San Juan, Santo Domingo, and Kingston (the last just because I was stuck for a fourth, and had the logos and uniforms already).

The key part is having the uniforms and logos already. I try to use stuff that I already have a look for because it helps with immersion. This has helped a lot guys, thanks for chiming in.

For Anchorage, I go with the Alaska Gold Rush... I usually use CephasJames logo pack and there is one in there.

I recently set up a 96 team league, 48 AL teams and 48 NL teams, with locations largely based on market size. Here's my league setup, might give you some ideas...

AL East
Boston Red Sox
New York Yankees
Baltimore Orioles
Philadelphia Athletics
Orlando Predators
Ft. Lauderdale Tarpons
Charlotte Knights
Norfolk Tides
Richmond Squires
Ottawa Lynx
Connecticut Defenders
Newark Bears
AL North
Chicago White Sox
Cleveland Indians
Detroit Tigers
Minnesota Twins
Toronto Blue Jays
Kansas City Royals
Indianapolis Arrows
Green Bay Blue Sox
Toledo Mud Hens
West Michigan Whitecaps
New York Giants
Rochester Red Wings
AL South
Tampa Bay Rays
Dallas Rangers
Birmingham Barons
Memphis Redbirds
Greensboro Grasshoppers
El Paso Diablos
Colorado Springs Sky Sox
New Orleans Zephyrs
Austin Express
Oklahoma City 89ers
Arkansas Travelers
Wichita Wingnuts
AL West
Los Angeles Angels
Oakland Athletics
Seattle Mariners
Portland Beavers
Vancouver Canadians
Spokane Spiders
Las Vegas 51s
Tijuana Potros
Long Beach Armada
San Jose Owls
Los Angeles Stars
Hawaii Islanders
NL East
New York Mets
Philadelphia Phillies
Miami Marlins
Washington Nationals
San Juan Senadores
Raleigh Bulls
Brooklyn Dodgers
Albany Senators
Providence Grays
Montreal Expos
Charleston River Dogs
Boston Braves
NL North
Chicago Cubs
Cincinnati Reds
Pittsburgh Pirates
St. Louis Cardinals
Milwaukee Brewers
Fargo Red Hawks
Omaha Storm Chasers
Iowa Oaks
Columbus Clippers
Louisville Colonels
Buffalo Bisons
Peoria Chiefs
NL South
Atlanta Braves
Houston Astros
Jacksonville Suns
Nashville Sounds
Ft. Worth Cats
San Antonio Missions
Mexico City Diablos Rojos
Monterrey Sultanes
Corpus Christi Hooks
Tucson Sidewinders
Albuquerque Isotopes
Tulsa Drillers
NL West
Los Angeles Dodgers
San Francisco Giants
San Diego Padres
Colorado Rockies
Arizona Diamondbacks
Riverside Pilots
Fresno Grizzlies
Salt Lake City Bees
Tacoma Rainiers
Sacramento Solons
Calgary Cannons
Boise Hawks

In reality Madison, WI or St. Paul, MN would be a better choice than Green Bay had I strictly gone by market size but I liked the idea of White Sox-Blue Sox rivalry.
