ai assistant gm trade?

i just simmed to july 1 and noticed that my assistant traded chris stewart for a 5th round pick. he wasnt on the trade block... and thats a terrible return.

Were you close to the cap? That sounds like it may have been a move to get under it - Stewart's got a big contract, so he's a likely candidate to be dumped for a draft pick to free up space.

yes, i was near the cap, but it gets worse. i just noticed that he also waived 7 players including jonas brodin, john carlson, and josh georges. basically, 4 of my top 6 d... not the players i was planning on moving.

also, contract demands are a bit much. zemgus girgensons is demanding 6.4million after his second season. he had 42 points in his best year... second contract demands should be about half that.

i just had a look at second contracts through the league and they all seem to fall in the 5.5million to 6.5million range.
